'06 OH RB Lance Smith (Wisconsin signee, transfer to Memphis)

Smith sentenced to 20 days in jail

MADISON, Wis. ? Former University of Wisconsin tailback Lance Smith, a Howland High graduate, was sentenced to 20 days in the Dane County Jail on charges of battery and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

Smith, a 20-year-old junior, entered guilty pleas back on Oct. 23 of last year to both charges. The charges stemmed from a physical altercation between Smith and his girlfriend last summer.

Smith was suspended from the football team and finally removed from the team on Aug. 4. He is planning on enrolling at another school, possibly YSU, where he would be eligible immediately.
