'06 OH SF Josh Chichester (Louisville Verbal)

SUPERPREP.COM

According to Josh, Illinois (offer) leads over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Purdue (offer). Chichester also claims offers from Louisville, Iowa, Cincinnati, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Miami (Ohio).

He likes OSU because its close to home. Josh states that all the schools that have offered, have offered for football and basketball.

Josh says he is pretty certain he will play both football and basketball at the next level. His athletic ability on the hardwood have reminded some of Syracuse star Hakim Warrick and former Pittsburgh Steelers stand-out Plaxico Burress on the grid-iron.

His top three schools are Ohio State, Illinois and Notre Dame. Illinois has offered at this point. Kentucky has shown some interest, while Cincinnati and Boston College are said to have offered as well. Some of his basketball-only scholarships so far are Dayton, Purdue, and Xavier.

(I am hearing that Matta is working with Tressel on the possiblity of offering a scholie, that is the hold up.)

(I am taking down the offer until I see something from OSU.)

Josh never got into a rhythm and showed off his great versatility and athleticism at the Boo Williams event. It wasn't a good showing by the small forward/wide receiver.

He stated he is hearing from Notre Dame, they were in last week to see him, Xavier, Illinois and Ohio State are also involved.

From Bucknuts...Josh is patiently waiting on an offer from OSU. Nebraska, Illinois, Cincinnati, Miami (University), Iowa, Boston College, Louisville, Purdue and Pitt have offered him to play both football and basketball. An OSU offer would vault them into his Top 5. He has not had many conversations with Thad Matta. He plans to attend football camp at OSU.

44820 I understand he wants to play both football & hoops and that he is a very talented WR. Is that still the case? I am also under the impression that he is going to attend the tOSU football camp? Is this accurate? Do you think that Matta is waiting to see if Tress feels he is good enough to warrant a football scholly? 6'6"-6'7" hoops players are a dime a dozen WR's that can run @ that size are special. How would you compare him to Trannon @ Mich St.? Is the above a plausible scenario? Thanks in advance 44820!

Yes....Chichester intends to play both sports at the next level...he has stated he will attend camp at OSU. I think his situation will clear up a little after the camp at OSU. Trannon is much more physical than Chichester at this point.

Nebraska Leaps For Extremely Tall Prospect
</TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle></TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top>When looking at extreme height, the typical prospects you find will be offensive linemen, specifically tackles. What if you were able to have such height at a skill position, say wide receiver? It almost seems like an unfair prospect, but it is a very real one as Nebraska is looking to secure a Midwestern recruit with all the tools to literally live large.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Josh does not name a leader, wants to play in the midwest. He stands at a whopping 6’ 8” and weighs in at 210 pounds while clocking in at a 4.7 40 yard dash. Josh will be visited in the future by two schools with slightly different looks. Xavier will be visiting with an obvious skew towards basketball while Illinois is looking at him as a basketball and football prospect. Josh said that if he ends up going to a school that has a football and basketball program, he would like to play both sports.

He is getting interest from Nebraska, Illinois, Boston College, Miami (OH), Iowa, Louisville, Ohio State and Cincinatti.

Question...

If we bring in Josh and he plays both football and basketball... he counts towards football. So, if we were to bring in 6 scholarship basketball recruits (Conley, Cook, Oden, Lighty, Harangody, Young), would Josh be able to play on the teams still? I have heard comparisons to Hakim Warrick, which are obviously great... but you can never have too many athletic bigmen on the team and he can also play the 3. Maybe he redshirts for both sports his first year and sees which direction he wants to go. A 6-8 WR would be great as well .

PG: Mike Conley - Jamar Butler - Arman Bassett (after prep school)
SG: Daequan Cook - Eric Gordon
WG: Thaddeus Young - David Lighty - Josh Chichester (doesn't count against B-Ball 'schollies)
PF: Brayden Bell - Aaron Pogue - Matt Terwilliger
CC: Greg Oden - Luke Harangody - Dallas Lauderdale

P.S. Also, how many scholarship players can be on the basketball team anyways? 12? 13?

Spiece Notebook: Chichester, Day One Observations
By Kyle Lamb
Date: Apr 30, 2005

We share an interview with Lakota West two-sport standout Josh Chichester and also have plenty of notes on the first evening of action at the Spiece Run 'N Slam AAU event in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Chichester scored 12 points in Ohio's victory over St. Louis Gameface friday. Josh says he is going to try to play both basketball and football at the next level and he is intereste in these schools right now...Notre Dame, Illinois, Ohio State, North Carolina, and Purdue.
He states all those schools have offered him for football and would let him play both sports in college.

If the scenario played out and Josh was offered a football scholarship, then he would not count towards the basketball program and could possibly be on the team.
