He is listed at 6'2", but can he pay the point? He and Cook would be a nice little tandem atthe wing spots... Conley/Dews/Cook would be a solid rotation, with Cook at the 3. You can never have too many shooters, and Dews seems like a solid threat from beyond the arch. I would love to have him.

The Kingwood Classic isn't the only game in the state. The Next Level Tournament has plenty of talent as well - and there were plenty of guys deserving of recognition in Dallas on Day Two.

Dews is putting up 20+ points in every game. He’s got one of the prettiest mid-range games in the country. Considered very underrated.

Dew-ing Just Fine
By Jeff Goodman National Recruiting Analyst

James Dews is a guy who was considered more of a mid-range guy that couldn't do a whole lot more. Well, the 6-3 shooting guard proved his critics wrong this past weekend.

At the Next Level Ballers Tournament in Dallas this past weekend, Dews showed he is a top level prospect. Dews knocked down five three-pointers and finished with 26 points in a win against West Texas.
Dayton has offered and he is listing Notre Dame, West Virginia, Seton Hall and Xavier.
(Ohio State has not been in contact with Dews much. In my opinion they are not that interested)

Dews will probably not come to Ohio State based on the positions we've already filled, but I always like to see the Ohio players do well. He seems like the type of guy who could go to a school like Dayton or Xavier and really fill it up. Who knows, maybe he could fill it up for a Kentucky? As far as the schools that he is listing, it would seem that he could become a 17+ ppg scorer at any of those schools.

One of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place>Midwest</st1:place>’s best shooters, James Dews, is watching his stock continue to climb. Excellent performances this spring have given college coaches an opportunity to see him in action, and as a result has been more scholarships with additional offers on the way. Dews took time out at the Spiece Run N’ Slam to chat with Prep Spotlight’s <st1:PersonName>Sam Hosey</st1:PersonName>, Jr. about his recruitment.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p>/index.pl/</o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p>It’s simple. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Play well in the month of April and watch the offers roll in. Lakota East (OH) combo guard James Dews knew this and took care of business.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

“It’s going real well,” said the seemingly always pleasant Dews of his recruitment. “Well, <st1:City><st1:place>Dayton</st1:place></st1:City>, Xavier, <st1:place><st1:City>Seton Hall</st1:City>, <st1:State>West Virginia</st1:State></st1:place> – they all offered. I’m supposed to get an offer from <st1:State><st1:place>Michigan</st1:place></st1:State>. I’ve also heard from the Miami Hurricanes, Notre Dame, <st1:State><st1:place>Kentucky</st1:place></st1:State>, Purdue and <st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Penn</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType>State</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Dews, PrepSpotlight.com’s No. 94 prospect in the country, has also been playing the part of the gracious host to meet with a few <st1:place>Midwest</st1:place> high-majors recently.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

“[<st1:State><st1:place>Michigan</st1:place></st1:State> assistant] coach Andy Moore came in last Monday,” Dews said. “It’s a great program. Tommy Amaker’s one of the greatest coaches. They bring in good players on and off the court.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Dews says he’s already spent time in <st1:City><st1:place>Ann Arbor</st1:place></st1:City> and likes what he’s seen.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

“I’ve been to two or three games over my high school career,” he said of past unofficial visits. “Nice environment. Players are real cool, coaches, everything.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Dews also received a visit from the Boilermakers’ staff.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

“I like Purdue,” he said. “They came in on Tuesday to talk to me. They said they’re really interested so I’m gonna check them out.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Another school that has turned up the heat on Dews is the Fighting <st1:PersonName>Iris</st1:PersonName>h.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Notre Dame came to my school two weeks ago,” Dews said. “It was [assistant] coach [Lewis] <st1:place>Preston</st1:place>. And then I went to [AAU teammate Josh] <st1:place>Chichester</st1:place>’s open gym so they could watch both of us over there.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Dews, who says he has no leader at this time, is also concentrating on taking his tests.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

“I’ve taken my ACT,” he said, “but I haven’t gotten my results back. I’m taking the [SAT] coming up soon.”<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

<o:p>Dews has always been known as a terrific shooter but this past year he has added more muscle to his frame, tightened up ball handling and improved his court awareness. </o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

<o:p>Dews is a legitimate combo guard now making him more attractive to high-majors.</o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

PrepSpotlight.com will continue to update Dews’ progress.<o:p></o:p>
