'06 PA WR/DB Elijah "Scoot" Fields (Pitt signee/bootee)

9/19/05

If Duquesne star Elijah Fields continues dominating games the way he did with 233 all-purpose yards and two punt returns for touchdowns against Clairton Saturday, he could have his choice of colleges.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior receiver-safety said Pitt,
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City>Penn State</st1:City>, <st1:State>West Virginia</st1:State> and O<st1:PlaceName>hio</st1:PlaceName><st1:PlaceType>State</st1:PlaceType> are his early leaders. <st1:PlaceName>Ohio</st1:PlaceName><st1:PlaceType>State</st1:PlaceType> is close to offering and when they do he is likely to accept.

It should be noted that, after the Dukes' 34-22 victory over Clairton, Fields left with
<st1:City>McKeesport</st1:City> linebacker Anthony Leonard, a <st1:State>West Virginia</st1:State> recruit.

Scoot only named a top 4.

oops...I will correct it...:!

He's a solid athlete. If OSU can grab this kid he'll provide a nice body for special teams and may become a starter later in his career.

According to Scout, Scoot is a 4* player and the #12 safety in the nation. With Salley, Whitner, and Mitchell gone after next year, I think he could be a big contributor at safety by his sophomore/R-freshman year. I haven't heard too much buzz about him until lately, but he has good DB attributes (6'2, 190, 4.5 40- according to Scout) and he has the frame to add a lot of muscle.

If Tressel and the boys are talking about offering him, I'll take him . We can't go wrong picking Scoot or Schwartz here, fellas. I'd sure like to see both of them offered.

Even though we now have an offer out to Grant Schwartz, I would still like to get "Scoot" as an athlete in this class. He and Schwartz are good enough that we need to get them here and sort out the positions later. I talked to someone who said that Fields has the potential to be a real game-breaker at WR.
