Tampa (FL)
Jefferson

Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 212 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.65 seconds

Stephen threw for 2,800 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior and is watching his recruitment pick up steam as summer approaches. Currently, South Carolina and Florida are his top choices but he is considering schools across the nation. Stephen does not hold any offers yet, but look for that to change soon. He will visit tOSU and Louisville in the coming weeks.

Film: My Take: Stephen is an impressive QB with an above average arm, good presence, excellent athleticism, and good touch. He does have some mechanics that need to be fixed (ball position, long wind-up), but they should not be much of an issue.

Alot of Floridians seem to think that Garcia just might be the best QB in the state. I like Brantley better, but Garcia is impressive as well though. Word is that he is a Gator lock but I don't think they have offered and they were confident in Brantley so take it fwiw.

Garcia Has A Top Two

By Phil Kornblut
QB Stephen Garcia (6-3 215) of Tampa made an unofficial visit to Florida for the Gators' spring game Saturday, and as a result, the Gators have moved way up the charts with him. "I had a little meeting with the coaches and we just talked some football and about recruiting and stuff," Garcia said. "Coach Meyer, he's an intense guy, I'll tell you that. Florida is making a serious run. I'd say Florida and South Carolina are my top two." Garcia has also visited USC, Alabama and Ole Miss and plans to make trips to Ohio State and Louisville. Garcia said several coaches are expected to come by his school this week including Mike Shula of Alabama, Urban Meyer of Florida, and some coaches from Florida State. He said he expects USC head coach Steve Spurrier and assistant David Reaves to visit for his spring game May 18th.

USC Commits To Visit Garcia

By Phil Kornblut
USC commitments DB Gary Gray of Richland Northeast and OL Quintin Richardson of Spring Valley are part of a group planning to visit Tampa QB Stephen Garcia (6-3 215), a USC target, later this month. "I talked to Quintin and Gary and they said they are going to come down for the spring game and they might be staying at my house," Garcia said. "We are going to the Nike combine in Gainesville May 20th and we'll drive up together." Expected to join Gray and Richardson on the trip are Richland Northeast WR MarK Barnes, Batesburg-Leesville WR Dontrelle Inman and Cheraw DE Cliff Matthews. Garcia said his favorites remain USC, Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama in no particular order. Coaches from Clemson, NC State and West Virginia stopped by Garcia's school Wednesday. Florida coach Urban Meyer and a Nebraska assistant watched his practice Tuesday. Alabama's Mike Sula visited Monday. USC head coach Steve Spurrier and assistant David Reaves plan to visit for his spring game May 18th. Garcia said he has no idea when he'll make his decision.

Film.

I was little surprised by this supposed offer, but the film makes a solid argument. Garcia has great feet for a bigger kid. His motion is a little awkward, almost like a QB who has a baseball throwing motion. He can put some zip on the ball, for sure. While the first set of clips show his arm strength, the second set show him using some touch and working the sidelines. One of the more impressive QBs I've seen on film so far this year...
