'07 FL QB Stephen Garcia (South Carolina Signee)

Free Scout

6/5/06

31. Stephen Garcia, QB, 6-3, 215, Tampa (Jefferson)
He plays the quarterback with an aggressive mentality. He has some of that Brett Favre in him. As a passer, he's very talented and has the offers to prove it. He led his team to the state game as a sophomore and had a big junior season as well.

Sources: Garcia kicked off football team

By JOSH KENDALL - [email protected]

Fifth-year senior quarterback Stephen Garcia has been dismissed from the football team, two sources told The State on Tuesday.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier would not address the news when reached by The State. Athletics director Eric Hyman is expected to make an announcement this afternoon.
Garcia was informed of the decision Tuesday morning.
It has been a tumultuous two-week end to a tumultuous career for the Florida native. Garcia lost his starting job to sophomore Connor Shaw and attended the funeral of his grandfather last week.
He entered the season chasing many of the school’s career passing records but leaves after completing 52 percent of his passes for 844 yards, nine interceptions and four touchdowns this season.
