From EDGYTim...Hughes is in the midst of his playoffs right now and is hitting on all cylinders. He is getting regular mail from Miami (FL), Florida, Penn State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Nebraska, Tennessee, Stanford, Wisconsin and Northwestern. He grew up a Canes fan but he plans to go through the process and listen to any school willing to offer him.

Rivals has posted video of Robert in action.

Looks pretty good running and catching the ball. I think he needs to get a little bigger, especially in the legs, in order to be a strong fullback at the collegiate level, but he's only a junior so there is plenty of time.

Review of Hughes performance at the AA junior combine this past week...

Robert Hughes
Hubbard (Chicago, Ill.), RB/LB

When Hughes hit the field for the combine, I thought he was one of the All-American Bowl players. He’s that physically imposing. He went hard throughout the drills and showed some nice hands in the running back vs. linebacker segment. He’s an in-between the tackles runner, so the open field drills weren’t the best way to showcase his talent, but you could tell just by looking at him that he’s a beast. Edgewater (Orlando, Fla.) linebacker/defensive back Lorenzo Edwards was a physical specimen as well and showed off the versatility that’s going to make him one of the nation’s most coveted recruits next year.

Not this past season, but the 2004 season, our high school team played Hubbard. This kid just ran all over us. I was not able to make it down to the inner city to watch the game but from stories I've heard, he just plowed through us, making our best tacklers/players look really silly. He either ran throught them or right around them, but had his way all night. Granted, we are a team that has not had a winning season in God knows how long, but I have a feeling this kid will be an absolute monster at the next level.

Robert posted good numbers at the AA combine and expects his recruitment to start gaining some steam. He grew up a Miami fan, but that will not factor in his decision. Among the many schools showing interest are Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Florida and Miami.

this guy is a complete MONSTER!!! i think JT should go after him. he is a powerful runner whose speed is improving. he can be a lendale white type of player. get on him. if illinois gets him, then they will have a really scary duo with him and rashard mendenhall.

Scout's profile of Robert. Purdue just offered him, joining Illinois as his offers. Miami was his favorite growing up, and he also has interest in tOSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, LSU, VA Tech, and Auburn, in addition to the two schools that have offered.

The kid is definitely built. Here are some photos from the combine...
