'07 IL RB Robert Hughes (Notre Dame signee)

Do you know if that's good enough for Notre Dame?

Can't tell you that much but I can say that if the reported grade/score combo is true, he is walking the line of eligibility for the NCAA Clearinghouse.

2.5 core GPA requires a 17 ACT (68 composite)

Which usually means no ND... I say usually because there are rumors that Charlie has gotten admissions to loosen up a little on his football players... (just like by reversing their decision to let Armando Allen be an EE, which essentially got them his commit)...

I think that Scout article is free now...

He has some nice things to say about OSU...would not be surprised to see us turn the heat up on Hughes during that visit.

i think it's a general understanding that the staff has leeway with a few close to the line academic recruits such as ray small. since it appears most of osu's current commits are in good academic standing, they may have a little bit of latitude right now.

I think people get too hung up on the trio aspect of things...if they can get Brent, great. If they can get Hughes, great. If they can get Wilson, great. If they don't get one or all of them, there are TONS of other options. I believe 100% that Wilson will be at Illinois. I know Brent and Hughes are getting a lot of pressure, but expect these young men to make their own decisions. Look at the fact that Wilson and Brent are coming in this weekend and Hughes is coming next weekend. They aren't even visiting together. That alone should tell you that they will make their own decisions.

Officially in Champaign

Simeon defensive end Martez Wilson and Hubbard running back Robert Hughes are on an official visit to Illinois...

Wilson and Hughes, who will both play in the U.S. Army All-American game in early January, are taking a serious look at Illinois. The two visited Notre Dame last weekend.
Illinois also may have a shot at Mount Carmel offensive lineman Arthur Ray, who could be re-opening his recruitment. Ray had made a verbal commitment to Boston College but when coach Tom O'Brien left for North Carolina State Ray started opening lines of communication with the Illinois coaches.

By EdgyTim...Hughes talks more about his visit. He was hosted by Juice.

The update includes some comments about why he did not visit OSU this weekend...not all bad for OSU fans.
