'07 OH DE Ben Martin (Tennessee signee)

Good luck to Ben. I hope he does well in TN. I am sure he will.

I got bashed for not being the one to jump on the bandwagon "almost" declaring Ben to Ohio State. Merely, mentioning watch out for other schools like ND in their recruiting attempts to lure him. I got ripped for a simple statement like that. But it looks like I might of been right. If reports are correct looks like it was down to TN and ND.

I consider myself a poster with quite a bit of class, but I get nauseated sometimes at how people go above and beyond to make sure we praise these kids who choose elsewhere and make sure everyone knows we all hope he has a great career wherever else they decide to go. Call me a jerk, but I hope he has an average career. Absolutely healthy and of course fun...but by all means average on the playing field.

Just saying what I think a lot of us are actually thinking.

Well I consider this a site with plenty of class....there are literally hundreds of other places a poster, even those with quite a bit of class, can go to bash kids or even air out their frustrations at the kids' choices. However, we go a different route around here...simply because a simple trickle seems to have a way of turning into a stream. We don't want that stream here...while you may think that is what most people here are thinking, I believe most people come here to avoid that very garbage.

Exactally there is no reason to be upset at a kid for making a life changing decision, because you wanted him to go somewhere he didnt feel as comfortable as another place...

I understand it can be frustrating, b/c we love the place so much and think that any kid in their right mind should feel the same way especially one from Ohio, but that is not always the case, so if they want to be a buckeye we welcome them with open arms, if not well then wish them luck besides when they play against us.

From the Vols site...schools continue to recruit Ben but he has cut off all contact. Interestingly, OSU is not one of the schools that continued to pursue him after his verbal to Tennessee.

I'm still hoping he pulls a Chris Simms on Tennessee and decides OSU is where it's at. If any of you don't know, Chris Simms committed to Tennessee before changing his mind last minute and committing to Texas. I'd love it, because see I live here in "Big Orange Country," and oh how I would love to hear them start bitching and complaining again especially after seeing them all jump on the Florida bandwagon. The cries wouldn't be quite as loud as those for the Heisman Trophy that was "stolen" from Peyton Manning but man would it hurt...............<fingers-crossed>

The difference was the Texas staff remained in contact with Chris even after his commitment to Tennessee. The OSU staff has cut off contact with Martin, and Martin isn't even taking calls from the staffs that are trying to continue to recruit him.
