'08 CA RB Darrell Scott (Colorado signee, transfer to USF)

Scott, top recruit of Hawkins era, leaving Colorado - NCAA Football - SI.com

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Sophomore tailback Darrell Scott, the biggest recruiting prize in coach Dan Hawkins' four-year tenure at Colorado, is leaving the program after 1 1/2 season filled with injuries and frustration.

Scott told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he's planning to finish out the semester in Boulder as he decides on where he'll transfer, but he acknowledged UCLA remains a strong possibility.

Wouldn't quite call him a bust yet, Colorado is not a school very well known for player development and strength & conditioning. Him leaving is essentially like another 4 star hitting the market. I'm sure a ton of schools would love to have his services.

Wasn't he already te starter? He took all of Scott's shine last year when Scott looked lost(I don't know if it was the system or that the players were actually better than his HS competition). He still has some time to make a decent collegiate career, UCLA is pretty terrible so he should get some PT immediately!

I wonder if this kid is any relation to Darrell?

Darnell Scott -- by some accounts the No. 1 high school running back in the country when he chose Colorado over Texas, Louisiana State and Florida in February 2008 -- announced that he is transferring to UCLA. The guy some scouts compared with Adrian Peterson is unhappy with his lack of playing time.
The guy in front of him? Former Brookhaven star Rodney Stewart, who wasn't offered a scholarship by any major schools until late in the process.

Gun might've been jumped on Scott's CU return | CollegeFootballTalk.com

Earlier today, we noted a report from a television station in Denver, which stated that former Colorado running back Darrell Scott could be on the verge of becoming current Colorado running back Darrell Scott yet again.

The station, citing an unnamed source, went so far as to report that Scott had met with head coach Dan Hawkins about a potential return to the program.

If that's the case, it's news to both the head coach and at least one other member of his staff.

According to the Denver Post, and through a member of the school's sports information department, Hawkins has denied that he had talked to Scott about a return. Scott's position coach, Darian Hagan, told the paper that he'd not been in contact with Scott either.

So, while Scott may want to return to the school, he's yet to reach out to the person who will be the ultimate arbiter as to whether a return will happen.

Scott, the top-rated back in the Class of 2008, left the school in early December with the intention of transferring to another Div. 1-A, with UCLA immediately being mentioned as a possibility.

Scott on coming back to Buffs: 'It's a lie' | CollegeFootballTalk.com

Well, we think it's safe to close the books on a Darrell Scott return to Colorado. At least for now.

A Denver television station created quite a bit of a stir in the Rocky Mountains Tuesday by reporting that Scott, the crown jewel of the Buffaloes' 2008 recruiting class who left the football program last November, was considering a return to the school. It was also reported that Scott had already met with head coach Dan Hawkins about a return.

Hawkins had already taken some of the life out of the story by stating, through a school spokesman, that he had not talked to Scott.

And now Scott has perhaps driven the final nail into the second-chance coffin.

Asked by the Boulder Daily Camera if there was any truth to the report, Scott very emphatically said there was not.

"Nope, not at all," Scott told the paper. "It is a lie. I don't plan on coming back."

So, for those of you looking for v2.0 of Scott in the Buffaloes backfield, it looks as if you can forget about that ever coming to fruition.

Former CU Buff Darrell Scott transfers to South Florida; Simas headed west

Two of Colorado's once promising skill players are leaving Boulder for home.

Darrell Scott, the nation's top running back prospect in 2008, announced on his Facebook account that he will transfer to South Florida.

Markques Simas, a gifted but troubled wide receiver who had his scholarship revoked by Dan Hawkins on June 2, would like to transfer to San Diego State.

"It makes sense," Therrien said. "Darrell loved Florida. He grew up some in Tallahassee and was always talking about getting back there. He is more of a Florida guy than a California guy."
