Gregory Shaw
Offensive tackle
Miami Pace
Ht: 6-foot-5
Wt: 267 lbs
Forty: 5.39 secs
Shuttle: 4.26 secs (typo?)
2006 stats: 91 "pancake" blocks
Class: 2008 (High School)
GPA: 3.1

Named to Rivals Junior All-American team in 2006; first team All-State as a junior.

From the same high school as 2007 Miami Hurricane cornerback signee DeMarcus Van Dyke, who had serious interest in Ohio State, but was not offered by the Buckeyes.

Scout - Mike Bakas - 02/21/07

In this article, Greg claims a top five of Florida, Ole Miss, Louisville, Tennessee (all offered), and Ohio State; he also has offers from Florida State, Florida International, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Auburn.

Rivals - 02/19/07

Shaw's half-brother is former Hurricane linebacker Willie Williams, who is now on the Louisville roster.

In this article, he mentions his top three as Louisville, Tennessee, and Ohio State (if the Buckeyes offer).

Rivals - 02/16/07

Greg states that he wants to camp at Ohio State and Michigan this summer.

My take: Good offers, good grades, but with "Block O" still looking strong, will the Buckeye staff show much interest? A possible camp offer? In any event, it's good to see another top Florida kid showing strong interest in Ohio State.

Wow, I had no idea Shaw was interested in OSU. He is a big time player...he was on the first team Rivals All American team and should be rated highly. It's amazing on all the talent that we are in on for OL.

Quesiton on the scholarship situation:
Does Tressel promise scholarships to walk-ons (most notably, for this situation, at OL like Tyler Whaley) until the graduate? Or if the staff feels that we need another one, and maybe Greg is better than a guy like Whaley, could Greg get his 'ship?

For the most part, scholarships ARE truely a year to year thing, but just wondering if Tress went about things differently.

Interesting. I'll get on the horn to see if I can find out anything about him.

One would think with his brother Willie ending things on a sour note with Miami and with Willie said to have some ill feelings towards not only Coker but Shannon also that this one isn't going to go Miami's way. Rivals seems to really love him, wonder if he'll get the coveted 5*'s from them as they seem to reserve those 5* rankings mainly on kids from the South. I really like what little film I've seen on him, and if that 4.26 shuttle is legitimate, my oh my. Wow.

If he comes North I thinik it is to follow WIllie, but I think that he will stay in the South...

Either way he is a 5 star talent...

You are probably right, most elite, elite Florida kids (which he appears to be) usually do stay South. I would've guessed he was going to Miami before I found out that Willie Williams was his brother. I think you can effectively rule them out of the picture as of now. I think Willie leaving Miami and going to Louisville could actually wind up helping all the northern schools chances, not just Louisville's.

Unless the walk-on-turned-schollie has disciplinary problems which warrant removal of the schollie, JT will never yank a schollie from the walk-on once the walk-on has earned it. So unless Whaley gets in trouble, he's golden until his eligibility is exhausted.

Well maybe we have more of a chance than I originally thought, but everything I have read points him to either follow his Williams or stay in Florida. Should be interesting to see what happens if he comes to camp and whether or not we offer.
