'08 MI WR Fred Smith (MSU signee, transfer)

I don't think Smith and Baldwin are mutually exclusive, whatever Blue fans will say. If Smith would have committed, do you really think that would change Baldwin's thinking at all? Receivers that are "compared favorably to Calvin Johnson" aren't scared away by other receivers.

Baldwin's thinking of going to UM? Well, assuming Smith did commit UM's receiver recruiting would be done.

Will be interesting to see what Demens does now...follow his buddy Gray to Nebraska, head to East Lansing with Smith (who he talks to but isn't tight with like he is with Gray) or spurns both and jumps on the UM offer he coveted from day one.

EAST LANSING - Backup receiver Fred Smith is transferring from Michigan State, school associate athletic director John Lewandowski confirmed Sunday.Smith, one of the highest-ranked members of MSU's 2008 recruiting class, has not picked a destination and has two years of eligibility left.
The Detroit Southeastern product, ranked the No. 74 player in the nation as a senior by recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, redshirted in 2009 and switched to fullback for the 2010 season. Smith was back at receiver at the end of spring drills in April, but he was behind several players on the depth chart.
