Scout Bio said:
Playing in a league with very run-oriented offenses, Coples plays in a reactionary defense where his job is to simply contain the line which he does exceptionally well against anything on the outside. Tremendous burst of acceleration and surprising balance for a player of his size, Coples uses his arm length to make many stops. There is a lot of work to do in the areas of playing low with leverage, and getting upfield to get pressure on a QB.

Interested in Clemson, Florida, Ohio State, North Carolina, NC State, Southern Cal and Eastern Carolina (all reported offers) as well as Notre Dame, South Carolina and Florida State.

Not sure how genuine his interest in us and what not, but Quinton is one heck of a player. I was very impressed with his highlight reel and not that it matters but he is rated pretty high on both Rivals and Scout.

Rivals $

Film...when discussing his offers there was no mention of tOSU.

My Take: The first few clips show a poor use of hands, catching blocks, a drag down tackle, and dead feet...I was honestly thinking there was some mistake or miscommunication. However, the last couple of clips show Quinton's upside...he can roll for a big man. In a year of short scholarships, I'd guess Quinton is the 4th-5th option on the DL this year.

Quinton will camp at tOSU and is impressed with tOSU's on-field accomplishments. He also discusses trying to play basketball in college.

Reports a 2.3 core GPA with a May test coming...needs a 900 SAT/19 ACT as it stands right now.

Does the film suggests he's more like Wilson or like Worthington? I'm not on a computer where I can look at his film right now, but those two seem to be the obvious comparison which someone above already mentioned.

He's he more of a speed guy like Wilson(seems like his forty suggests this to be the case) or is he a more powerful, strong side defensive end like Worthington was coming out of high school(obviously he's not a DT)?

I am a HUGE fan of HUGE dlineman, so I certainly wouldn't be opposed to an offer if he deserves one in the eyes of the coaches.

Coples Getting Attention From Buckeyes
Quinton Coples, a defensive end at Kinston High School, is booked for the month of July. According to sources at Rivals.com and Scout.com, Coples has over 30 formal offers on the table and has not indicated when he may make his decision. According to another source, the Ohio State Buckeyes have recruited Coples harder than any other school and that may be where he is leaning towards attending in 2008.

Good to know some people close to the situation are thinking that. DE is a major priority right now with the recent departures and Quinton has all the tools to get the job down at he next level.
