'08 NJ LB Brendan Beal (Florida Signee - transfer to Minnesota)

Brendan says he barely played last week because the opponent was inferior and his coach wanted to rest him. He is excited about visiting LSU this weekend.

I know this may come out like bashing but it's sad to me to see no responsibility hardly EVER taken by athletes anymore. In the article above this one, Brendan's coach explains how he won't play because of skipping class, then Brendan says it was because of a weak opponent. Not just Beal does it but I hardly ever see a young person take responsibility for what they have done until there is no way around it. This is a bit off topic and can be moved but it's just becoming a trend to take no accountability it seems.

"My expectations were high," Brendan Beal said of his trip to Florida. "And it was ridiculously great. Gainesville's a real college town and the people there really love their team and sports. It just blew me away. It was so loud I couldn't even hear myself. I love what they have going for them...This trip really helped me see myself playing there. I loved the Gator Walk too..."

Decision by Liberty's Beal to be revealed tonight -- themorningcall.com

From staff and wire reports
October 25, 2007

Liberty senior football player Brendan Beal welcomes the spotlight more than the average high school football player.

That's why he chose to go to the College Sports Television Network studio on Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex in New York on Wednesday to announce his decision on which college he will attend.

But his decision won't be revealed until 7 tonight on a taped-delayed segment. On Wednesday night, Beal confirmed that it's between defending national champion Florida and and fellow Southeastern Conference power LSU.

Beal's recruitment never really got off the ground. For me, this is one of those rare times where a blue-chipper goes somewhere else and I'm completely indifferent... Best of luck to Brendan and all that, but I certainly wouldn't trade the comraderie of our '08's to have another shot at him.

Florida LB Brendan Beal plans to transfer from Gators – Swamp Things – Gators Blog – Orlando Sentinel

UPDATE (10:52 a.m.) Florida spokesman Steve McClain has confirmed Beal?s release. The school has granted permission for other schools to contact Beal.

After earning All-American honors as a high schooler out of Bangor, Pa., Brendan Beal never emerged as a primary Florida linebacker thanks to injuries and talent depth.

Beal told Scout.com that he plans to transfer from the Gators, confirming speculation that began last week about Beal?s future. Beal becomes the second Gator to transfer in as many weeks, joining former Gators cornerback Adrian Bushell.

Brendan Beal makes college football debut for University of Minnesota
Published: Friday, September 02, 2011
By Tom Hinkel | The Express-Times

Tim Moncman might have been the happiest coach in Pennsylvania prior to the 2007 football season.

His Liberty High School Hurricanes were already on the verge of winning a state title. Then, Moncman got word that Brendan Beal, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound man-child from Roxbury, N.J., virtually would be landing on his doorstep.

A Parade All-American and four-star recruit, the University of Florida-bound middle linebacker transferred to Liberty and was supposed to be the final piece that led the Hurricanes to the Promised Land.

"He was as fast as any running back or receiver we've had," said Moncman, who stepped down at Liberty following the 2009 season. "He had all the tools."

Instead, the Hurricanes fell short of their goal by losing to Hazleton in the second round of the Districts 2-4-11 Class AAAA sub-regional playoffs.

It was the first in a series of events that would haunt Beal over the next three seasons. A string of injuries forced Beal to miss the 2008 and 2009 seasons at Florida.

"I couldn't believe this was happening," Beal said. "I just kept getting unlucky."
