And will be interesting to see if he tries to take Babbitt with him to Cal, should he be offered and accept the position...

Not that I'm in the know... But, I don't think it was as much about the coach as it was playing at home in Nevada. I don't see him going to Cal... I think he stays at Nevada first off and then potenialy OSU if not.

I don't think Luke's decision was so much about playing for the home state school as it was playing close to home. I think there was some talk about his Dad transferring or something in regards to his job. Saying that, California is a lot closer to Nevada than Ohio:)

I wasn't insinuating that his decision was based on Coach Cox...but when a coach like Cox moves to a new program like that who do you think is going to be the first kid he calls? I would be surprised if it was anyone other than Luke...

I'd listen to ORD on this one...

A very good get for Cal. Montgomery did wonderful things at Stanford, but the 'pay-for-play' league wasn't so kind, even though the caliber of basketball at Stanford was better than that of Golden State:biggrin:.

Cal now has a proven winner, who can recruit to an upper echelon academic school, and who runs a clean program. (Cal has had problems with that in prior years). I also am glad to see Montgomery getting back 'into it', as he's too good a coach to sit on the sidelines.

Luke Babbitt is leading a 3-3 Nevada team in minutes played, scoring, AND rebounding. He's averaging 33 minutes, 15.3 points, and 7.8 rebounds, while shooting 44% from the floor, 38% from three, and 77% on his free throws.

Sure would look good as a Buckeye.
