This is Greg's first year playing high school football but he has already progressed enough to get Coach Tressel's attention. The Buckeyes have not promised an offer, but Greg is on the radar.

Scout Profile

Greg discusses last playing football in the 6th grade, but finally playing as a senior. After his first game, he was offered by Miami (OH) and has also picked up an offer from North Carolina State while hearing from Ohio State, Michigan State, Tennessee, and Wake Forest.

This kid could be great in college. He's always been known as an athletic freak during his four years at St. X but has always pursued basketball and marching band. He was finally convinced to come out his senior year by teammates Darius Ashley and Stephon Ball. I feel that nearly everyone wanted to see him give it a shot. He's been great for the team. He shown huge growth in seven games and his potential is unlimited. Someone is going to get a good player out of it.

I'd been meaning to get a thread up for Greg but procrastinated to the point where I was starting to wonder if he would become the first recruit to receive an OSU offer before there was even a thread here for him.

I always laugh when I see that picture of Greg, because he looks angry to me, but in reality he's one of the nicest kids you'll have the privilege of meeting. He's become more and more comfortable on the field each week, and has progressed greatly. It was clear the first couple games that he was going to be a great player, he was often getting himself into good position to make a play and just was one step away or couldn't finish the play off. Obviously he's getting a lot better, and is now making those plays he was coming up just short on early in the year. He could be a dominant DE in college, although from what I've been told OSU is interested in him more as a TE, and the fact that there really isn't any film on him playing TE has held them back from offering.

Looks like one of those kids you see who show up out of nowhere, and end up being developed into freaks on the football field.

But then again, he could just be a talented athlete, but maybe not up for football at the D-1A level.

Is he worth a gamble?

I've been to a couple of St. X games this year and this kid literally came out of nowhere. He was in the band until last year I believe so he is playing with pure natural ability. He looks like an athletic specimen on the field, a lot like Alex Albright did. If we miss out on Hale and don't get any other DEs, I would not object to offering this kid. It's scary to think of how he could develop with the Bucks coaching staff.

The nice things about kids like this is you can redshirt them, and let them develop without worrying about them transferring/getting upset about not getting initial playing time. Think Chimdi Chekwa in that type of situation. Secondly, the versatility is huge here.
