Donte's younger brother says the Buckeyes are his favorite and he would love to play in Columbus, however, he is open to any school. He is getting interest from Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Iowa, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and others.

Buckeye Grove spells the first name "Dawawn," but his Rivals profile lists the name as "Dawaun." This CPD article also lists the spelling as Dawaun.

For those who have seen him play, is he of tOSU caliber? Strengths? Opportunities for improvement?

At this point I havent heard anyone talk him up that much...

Things could change, but at the moment, I think things could run parallel to the recruitment of Joey D'Andrea...JMO tho and would love to be wrong...

I don't know that he is OSU-caliber at this point. He certainly is not a candidate for an early offer, but will have a chance to show at camp and put together some nice film this Fall. I think he might be a notch above D'Andrea, but that's not a bad comparison. Whitner will probably get a D1 when you consider the exposure he is going to get playing for Glenville.

Well I have not seen any film, so just basing off kind of how D'Andrea was early name thrown around last year, and thought maybe that he might earn a camp offer early in the process, but ended up at a MAC school.

I agree with Whitner's blood lines and pormotion from Glenville he could end up with an Indiana/NW type offer if he doesnt get the interest of the big boys...

Film courtesy of ScoutingOhio.

Very impressive. Dawawn shows a very quick first step, which allows him to penetrate into the backfield although most of it came against one team. There are also a couple of clips showing him dropping back to spy on the QB, which shows that he's got adequate speed. Dawawn is a little less explosive in getting to the QB than Pitcock, but again, who is? Possible camp offer/fall OSU offer, but I think he's going to get a lot of offers in the Big 10 and around the country.

Dawawn certainly helped his case a bit at the combine when he put up sub-5 times in both the agility and 40, at a weight of 260. Only 4-5 other guys dipped below 5 on both tests while at 250+ lbs. I think he could put it together and have a huge senior year for Glenville. Of course, I thought Kyle Jefferson would do the same, and look where he ended up.

Wisconsin also resigned Daven Jones from the class of 06.. he attended Milford Academy in NY last year to get his grades up... Watch out for Wisky in a few years.. They got some serios speed and talent from Glenville up there in Daven and Kyle.. If Im not mistaken Daven was one of the best players in the North-South AS game..
