'08 OH DT Dawawn Whitner (Erie Community College)

Why would he do that? Why not go somewhere where you earned yourself a scholarship and have a better chance of seeing the field in your four years? Sometimes you have to take the scarlet-colored glasses off...

I'd be shocked if he and Rowell don't end up at Illinois...provided they have enough spots. The question will be whether they take Cordale with them...

From O&B News...talks about looking forward to his visit to Illinois this weekend and says he and his Glenville teammates are not necessarily a package deal. Also considering Wisconsin, West Virginia, Purdue, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State and Minnesota.

Why? Because money shouldn't be an issue, he is a glenville boy, his brother was a star at osu. He is more likely to be part of a succesful team at OSU, and its what are his goals, if it is to play right away for someone (where he can still develop), or follow his brothers footsteps and work his butt off to try and earn playing time (assuming he believes in himself that he can reachthis goal) and increase his chances to play in the nfl for the school he grew up rooting for.

I don't think i'm seeing things too blindly, if his brother went to any school besides ohio state before the nfl, it'd say i'm blinded by the scarlet lenses, but if I as whitner I wouldn't rule out walking on to Ohio St.

The current DTs are young (Todd soph, Doug soph, Dexter frosh, Rose? soph). Add in Goebel, Mobley and others like Simon (perhaps) and you have a logjam. That's a tall order for anyone to beat out.

Having watched WVU trenches a few times this year, I think he could help them significantly, and with that conference, there's a strong chance of annual BCS bids.

I know I'm risking getting this thread closed for being off topic so I'll be quick. Back when Neb. was good, alot of it had to do with Osborn getting the instate kids to pay and walk on. Dawawn could no doubt go to college on a scholly somewhere.
