'08 OH LB Steve Gardiner (Michigan State Signee)

IMO this comes down to how much the kid wants to be a buckeye...

I know he would have to wait a year, but where ever he went the chances are pretty good that he would redshirt, so either way it gives him a chance to get bigger and then to play for one of the best teams in the country...

It isnt that the staff doesnt think he is a player, but moreso that they just have other needs at other positions...

Seems like lb's are knockin' down the door to come here...

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in the wake of the Rowell commit is the impact it may have upon Gardiner. I had heard that those close to Gardiner felt that there was a better than 50% chance that he would end up getting a normal offer after everything shook out with early entries, transfers and guys committing.

Not that Rowell was completely out of nowhere but he wasn't one of the names people had already somewhat penciled into the class.

Steve Gardiner always followed Ohio State as a youngster and says it's only about a 20-minute drive to the stadium from his house. "I'd prefer to stay somewhat close to home, but none of the schools in my top four are too far away," Gardiner said. "I think Northwestern is the furthest and that's only a six-hour drive. The flight is less than an hour, so that's not a big deal..."

I talked to my friend (OL Evan Blankenship) while we were working out and he told me that he was the host of Gardiner last night. I asked him about the grayshirt offer and he said he was still undecided...............
