Listing interest in Florida State, ND, OSU and Pitt.

Film review:

Bart is obviously comfortable moving the pocket with sprints, but throws very sidearm when throwing on the run. Arm strength looks like it needs some considerable work, but Bart is obviously still very young. Kept Harding off balance working out of the shotgun. Athletic enough to be a runner in high school, but that will likely change in college.

Living in Mentor, I see quite a bit of Bart play.

Mentor's offense is basically a spread, no huddle offense with every snap out of the shot gun. Going into this past Saturday semi-final game against Canton McKinley, he had gone well over 100 attempts without throiwng an INT. During the game against McKinley (I was there), I saw one poor decision on his part (a late throw over the middle) that, fortunately for Mentor, 2 McKinley DB's smacked each other away from the INT. He did throw an INT in the game, but it came on a tipped ball.

What I have seen this year from Bart that has impressed me is his poise. Trailing 13-12 with 2:30 left in the game, he led Mentor on a 70 yard TD drive to win Saturday's game.

I too think he needs to work a little on arm strength and mechanics when on the move.

Week 2 Recap & Rankings - HS Gridiron - cleveland.com

Eastside Player of the Week: QB Bart Tanski, Mentor

It is no surprise here. Tanski led the Cards to the big win in the Crosstown Showdown with an impressive stat sheet: 21-28, 301 yards, and three touchdowns. Like I predicted, the three-year starter was also dangerous against Strongsville with his legs as he picked up 90 yards rushing, including a 26-yard touchdown run.

Mentor senior quarterback Bart Tanski was anything but unnerved. He had yet another brilliant big-game performance, passing for 323 yards and three touchdowns. He was 20-of-32 and did not throw an interception, but lost two fumbles.

Eastside Player of the Week: QB Bart Tanski, Mentor

I know, Tanski got this award a couple weeks ago and I should try to mix it up. But how could I when the senior QB lit up the mighty St. Ignatius in the Crosstown Showdown? Tanski went 20-32 with 323 yards and three touchdowns.

Having watched Tanski against Mooney a couple weeks ago, I think he is a D1 talent. He seems to just have good pocket presence and poise. He made some very nice throws and seemed to be able to make all of the short, intermediate, and long balls. He also throws with nice touch and can make things happen with his feet when need-be. I think Miami OH. would be a very good fit for Bart if they were to offer.

QB Tanski shines as Cardinals roll on

Sunday, November 11, 2007
Mike Peticca
Plain Dealer Reporter

Mentor's offense had scored 42 points per game prior to Saturday night's regional semifinal against Solon.

Would the Cardinals be disappointed to score barely half their norm? Not when they executed with enough precision to prevail against one of the area's elite defenses.

"They're a solid defense," Mentor quarterback Bart Tanski said after he accounted for 324 yards of offense in the Cardinals' 23-13 victory over Solon at Parma's Byers Field. "Most people don't expect to score 23 points against them."

Tanski, in the midst of his second straight brilliant season, completed 18 of 27 passes for 238 yards and rushed for 86 yards and a 3-yard second-quarter touchdown on 20 carries. Tyler Schutz caught nine of Tanski's tosses for 142 yards.

Glenville kick returner Cordale Scott is really something.

Mentor quarterback Bart Tanski is something else.

Scott returned two kickoffs 99 yards for touchdowns, the second of which gave Glenville a 40-38 lead with 4:04 remaining in a dramatic Division I regional final Saturday night in Lakewood Stadium.

It was too much time to give Tanski, who added another page to a career that already ranks among the most memorable in Northeast Ohio.

Teammates repeatedly say Tanski has "ice in his veins," and he was unaffected by a cold drizzle as he directed a 71-yard drive to the Glenville 1-yard line.

Mentor quarterback Bart Tanski didn't panic when his team trailed by two points with less than four minutes to play during Saturday night's nail-biting 41-40 Division I regional championship win over Glenville.

"We've been there before, so we all know what we're doing out there," Tanski said.

Tanski's calmness inside Lakewood Stadium came easy knowing the Cardinals have one of the best place-kickers in the state, with senior Kevin Harper waiting in the wings.

Lots to like in Tanski vs. Bedevelsky matchup Thursday, November 22, 2007Tim Warsinskey
Plain Dealer Reporter

Bart Tanski, meet Sean Bedevelsky.

Sean Bedevelsky, this is Bart Tanski.

Your football twin.

Your mirror image off the field.

Your under-recruited quarterback brother.

The guy whose dreams you want to crush into the Byers Field carpet Saturday night in Parma.

Welcome, both of you, to the Division I state semifinals. Everyone has been expecting you.

The 2007 high school football season in Northeast Ohio comes down to this, the pairing most football fans have been anticipating for weeks: Bedevelsky's No. 1 Brunswick Blue Devils (13-0) playing Tanski's No. 2 Mentor Cardinals (10-2) Saturday at 7 p.m.

Mentor's Tanski pockets award

Thursday, November 29, 2007 Tim Warsinskey

Plain Dealer Reporter
Mentor quarterback Bart Tanski "smiled from ear to ear," according to his mother, Beth, on Wednesday.
In other news, Tanski was named winner of the 21st annual Associated Press Mr. Football award, emblematic of the top high school player in Ohio.
In the Tanski household, it was difficult to say which was a bigger deal for the poker-faced senior who is as comfortable listening to Celine Dion music in the locker room as he is leading a frenetic, last-minute touchdown drive.
"He doesn't have many highs and lows," said Beth Tanski, who cried when she heard the news.
