AKRON, Ohio (AP) ? The University of Akron's football coach says running back DeVoe Torrence and quarterback Jared Wackerly are no longer part of the team.

Coach Rob Ianello says after meeting with the players and their families they've decided to transfer to other institutions. He said Saturday he wishes them the best.

Torrence played in seven games last year as a true freshman. He carried the ball 30 times for 146 yards.

Anyone know where Devoe Torrence landed after he transferred from Akron U. I googled Devoe and I have hit a stone wall after the news that he left Akron's program following the 2009 season. Strange.

He landed in jail...

Torrence reportedly shouted at them from his house, threatening to shoot them and blow up their police cruiser ?if they did not vacate his street,? the jail records said. Then Torrence shouted that he had a gun and a hand grenade, and that he was going to shoot the officers, the jail records said.
One of the officers responded with a Taser and, after he fell to the floor, they tried to place handcuffs on him, the jail records said. Torrence reportedly continued to struggle.
The jail records said that he began kicking them and bit one officer on the hand.
A police K-9 bit back.
The dog grabbed him by the leg and held him until the handcuffs were secured on his wrists, the jail records said.
