Question:

If McCarthy goes to ND, which I feel he will, who the prime canidate to be offered at saftey that you think has a realistic shot of coming here?

Or, do you think they use that schollie at another position?

Maybe the safety spot could go to someone that they already offered like Scott. I know wad likes Scott on the defensive side, and I definitely see his potential there.

I would think the staff will go after some DE's with the opening up of some scholarships. We have Williams in the fold who can also play LB. Outside of Wells from Georgia, what other stud DE's are we trying to get?

Some also feel that Hale will evantually become a DE in college.

Look for Mains to end up at Indiana. Staples is long gone and I don't think Whitner has a chance at an offer. But there are a few other names still floating around...

Here is my updated class (keep in mind some of this is based on info the BPRT has gathered and some of this is gut feelings):

QB - Pryor
RB - Torrence
WR - Posey
WR - Stoney
WR - Thomas
TE - DiLillo
OT - Adams
OT - Shugarts
OC - Brewster
OG - Jenkins
DE - Williams
DL - Mobley
DT - Goebel
LB - Sweat
DB - Scott
K - Buchanan

Those are 16 I feel real good about...others that we are still in serious contention for:

Shayne Hale
Etienne Sabino
Quinton Coples
Orhian Johnson
Justin Thompson

I don't think we get any of these 5 WR targets:

Josh Jarboe
Jeff Fuller
Kenny Tate
Michael Floyd
Martin Bayless

Is it possible we get one or two? Of course it's possible. I just don't think it's probable. My gut says Jarboe - SEC, Fuller - Big XII, Tate - UF or Maryland, Floyd - ND, Bayless - Pac-10. If we were to get any of them, Bayless would be the most likely in my opinion.

Nor do I think we get any of:

Ben Jones
Brendan Beal
Darrell Simmons
Charles Whitlock
Brandon Harris
Jack Crawford
Xavier Avery

I just don't see any of those happening. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. Crawford is probably the most likely of that group, but until he gets an offer it is a moot point.

And I don't think it is likely any more offers go out in-state. Having said that, this next group is probably the most likely to have something change...an offer out of nowhere or an offer to someone who just takes it to another level during the first few games of their season:

Matt Mihalik
Isaiah Pead
Steve Gardiner
Eric Magnaca
Johnny Adams
Jake Stoller
Shawntel Rowell
Dawawn Whitner
Donnie Fletcher
Mike Spooner
David Dick
Jerel Worthy
Tim German
Harold Coates
Blaec Walker
Chip Robinson
Marc Stevens
Christian Hanna
Teddy Robb
Sal Battles
Fred Craig
Nick Schneider

Good list Wad...I agree witht hose 16 as very likely to be in this class. If I was to add 2 more players that I think get in this class I would go with Fuller and Hale but anyones guess is good as the others at this point with Ohrian Johnson, Floyd, Sabino, Thompson, Coples, etc. out there.

I havent been around much as most of you know, but I am back to being able to post regularly now so I figured I would give an update...

QB - Pryor (from most places we lead for him and he is recruiting guys to come here with him. Maybe a AAA game announcement.)

RB - Torrence

WR - Stoney
WR - Posey
WR - Thomas (From most accounts we are in the lead, but this is one that I will worry about until he committs to us.)

TE - DiLillo

Block O - Brewster, Adams, Shugarts, Jenkins (I still think it is a matter of him waiting to not upset the homestate fans)

DL - Williams
DL - Goebell
DL - Mobley
DL - Hale
DL - ? (Not sure on the last dlineman, as I have not heard promising things on Thompson, or Couples lately, but I still think we could use another one. If not we wait till next year and there is Simon and Adams...Hopefully we can land both of them.

LB - Sweat
LB - Sabino (I fell that we have a very good shot here...Should tell us alot after his visit here)

DB - Scott
DB - I still think that Tressell and staff will find one if not 2 more dbs. They like their athletes back there and even tho they brought in a ton of them last year, Torrence has moved to offense and so has Schwartz so we might need one of two. I would love for them to be Woods and Johnson, but Woods seems set on attending NU and not sure on Johnson...

K - Buchanon

Player for Player I will take this class against any in the nation...There is no reason to think that we can't land Pryor, Thomas, Mobley, Hale, Sabino, Jenkins and then add anyone else that the staffs sees fit.

We may not have the numbers of 22-25 like other teams pull in, but the way Tress does it we have great balance, and recruit good student athletes that stick with the program all the way thru and don't have those big classes every year...

Here is how I see things as of now:

QB - Pryor
RB - Torrence
WR - Posey
WR - Stoney
WR - Thomas
WR - Floyd
TE - DiLillo
OT - Adams
OT - Shugarts
OC - Brewster
OG - Jenkins
DE - Williams
DL - Mobley
DT - Goebel
LB - Sweat
LB - Sabino
DB - Scott
K - Buchanan

That's 18 right there...which still leaves room for 1 (maybe 2 depending on guys leaving early). Could it be Howard? Could it be Hale? Could it be Rowell? Could it be someone off the radar like Gardiner or Greer? Who knows at this point...but here is the group of guys that it could come from, IMO:

Orhian Johnson
Shayne Hale
Travis Howard
Shawntel Rowell
Steve Gardiner
Brandon Thompson
Brandon Harris
Charles Whitlock
D'Anton Lynn
Ben Jones
Isaiah Pead
Steve Greer

I still can't get a good read on Johnson and I think Hale ends up at WVU. Howard still needs an offer, but that could come with a visit. Rowell is still a wild card beceause of his weight but many people think he makes it into this class. I know most think the ship has sailed on Gardiner and Pead but I think the staff is constantly re-evaluating. Lynn, Jones, Whitlock, Thompson and Harris are all longshots at this point.

I am with you on that list Wad...add Hale and I think we end up with 19 in this class and that imo is the top class in the country. Floyd and Sabino may not be easy but I think they end up at OSU as well.

I kinda think the ship on Hale has sailed a lil...

I think Sabino is going to take him spot...

I agree with Wade's list, and I would say that the staff is still looking for a DB to add to the class, With Howard visiting this weekend and Harris visiting the 9th of Nov...

And I also think that there is a high possibility of Rowell being in this class...

I think if Howard is offered this weekend then the probability of him and Sabino coming goes way up. Not sure if they would still take Harris if they get Howard.

Lately, I have been saying I think Hale ends up at WVU (and Saddler ends up at UVA).

Still can't get a good read on Johnson...and I know people are very confident about Mobley but I need to hear it from his mouth first.

Rowell, Howard, Sabino, Pryor, Mobley, Floyd and Scott would be a heck of a finish to this class...and certainly very possible.
