'08 TX WR/DB Martin Bayless (Northwestern Signee)

True, but someone on both sites obviously saw enough to peg him as a 2-star vice the default 1-star. His offer list (which will surely grow) will garner additional attention...

actually, i think rivals gives a kid a default 2* ranking when they haven't evaluated him at all, yet he has some sort of major offers.

Great look at Martin's HS career thus far...and the untapped potential he has. Visiting Cal and Stanford this week then going to Friday Night Lights at UF. Moving to Houston for his senior season and will visit Texas A&M once he gets settled. Fully qualified with no leaders at this early point.

Has three cousins who were Mr. Football in Ohio, including Charles Woodson...

Junior highlights on both sides of the ball.

Kid looks like a stud on offense...film reminds me a bit of Floyd's in that he can work on the edge as a true wideout, can work the slot, works well in traffic on slip screens and also has the speed to be effective in HS on the end-around. Like to see a little better use of the hands on receiving the ball, but does a great job using body position on corner routes. Very smooth running style...shocked this kid doesn't have more offers, but I bet they will be coming. There is a reason OSU and Florida have offered.

Defensively, shows good instincts at safety. Fairly solid tackler who will come up and provide solid run support. Certainly looks like more of a free safety at the next level, but plays up strong in HS. Regardless, I think his future is on offense at the next level. The kid is just a great looking football player.

Flip side being that OSU does not send out that many offers, comparitively speaking, so you know if he has one in hand from the Buckeyes he must be pretty special. This film definitely confirms that.

Looks like a good possession-type receiver, which there is nothing wrong with. Only thing I am wondering about is competition...those CB's looked pretty pitiful on some plays and were using horrible technique. Overall though, Bayless looks like he could be a good player, though I would put all of our current offered WR's ahead of him as far as film goes.

Now that he is in Texas, does anyone know what type of competition his new high school--Hightower High School (Sugar Land, Texas)--plays?

I don't think it's all that strong but it's very competitive. Hightower did advance a couple rounds in the playoffs last year against some pretty good teams.
