'09 CA PF Renardo Sidney (Mississippi State Signee)

Elite 24 Player Breakdown

slam online
Renardo Sidney, 6-10 power forward, Fairfax (CA), 2009: When he’s on top of his game, the hype is clearly deserved—unfortunately, this wasn’t one of those occasions. In fairness, he reportedly suffered an injury in Thursday’s practice, but his lack of effort and unwillingness to mix it up in his brief early tick was disappointing.

he seemed fine in pre-game. subdued but fine. while he was out, he wasn't wearing his shoes and (as far as i remember) received no assistance with his ankle. i'm surprised he started then. i guess he had planned to start and play only a couple minutes. after the poor outside shot, that was it. apparently, he (and the coach) decided it was enough.

Another new beginning for Renardo Sidney

student sport basketball
After helping Artesia High of Lakewood, California win its second consecutive California Div. III state title last winter, super sophomore Renardo Sidney told us he loved living in Los Angeles.

"Man, just getting used to the freeways and the cost of living, it's crazy," the 6-foot-10 Sidney remarked. "Plus I like all the pretty girls."

Sidney also told about his upcoming goals

"I want to win three CIF (Southern Section) titles and three state titles before I graduate."

Well, he'll still be able to meet pretty girls (in fact, he might see even more now) and he'll have to settle for one Southern Section title, two L.A. City Section titles and three state titles as his father, Renardo Sidney Sr., recently confirmed a long-standing rumor that his son will leave Artesia and enroll at another school for his junior season.

With guard-like skills and a big man's body, Renardo Sidney is being called the next Oden-type superstar.

NEW YORK -- They had never conversed prior to the night of the 2007 NBA Draft, but shortly after becoming the No. 1 pick, Greg Oden was connected via cell phone with a 17-year-old in Lakewood, Calif., named Renardo Sidney. "[Oden] just told me to keep working hard and listen to my parents," Sidney said. "Then he had to go do some interviews."
Sidney was not a random teen selected to receive an inspirational message from a new millionaire. The 6-foot-10, 245-pound high-schooler received the call because he's expected, by everyone from pundits to shoe merchants to unscrupulous businessmen, to follow in Oden's footsteps and be No. 1 on the 2010 draft board.

After months and months of speculation surrounding Artesia High boys basketball player Renardo Sidney, it finally became official this week.
He's leaving.

However, speculation quickly began that Sidney wouldn't end his high school career with the Pioneers when it was learned before last season even finished that Story would transfer to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia to play with former Dominguez High guard Brandon Jennings.

Yes, he is, and when I wrote that I was under the impression of Jennings and Sidney being in the same class... but Jennings is '08. However, Jennings has switched his commitment once already (from USC to Arizona).

We are not in on Jennings, and we already have our PG for the 08' class...
