Here claims verbal offers from Wake Forest, Akron, Pittsburgh and Virginia, while stating Pitt and Virginia are his top 2 (things have obviously changed). Says he is a fan of Miami and Virginia Tech and that his uncle, Nekos Brown, plays for Virginia Tech.

You have to love the attention that we are showing to Maryland area football...

There are a ton of good players that come out of that area, and even tho we have missed on them in the past 10 years, it seems that we are making in roads, and I think that they will start to pay off...

Hopefully this year with Thomas...

It is weird and I don't know if Darrell changed schools, but in the 2nd update (the 7-on-7 highlights) it mentions he is from Friendly, MD and attending the camp with fellow Friendly native and '09 recruit Montez Bentley, from Ft. Washington High School. If Givens did transfer and went to Ft. Washington, this is the same HS that Lamaar Thomas is going to, and the same place the Haden brothers are from. Interesting, but I wonder if the staff noticed Givens when they were scouting player like Thomas and the Haden's... much like they did with Chekwa when he was being recruited... if he did indeed attend Ft. Washington that is.

Talks about his team's season and says he is hearing the most from Ohio State, Boston College, Akron, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Miami, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida. Talks about growing up a Buckeye fan and being friends with Lamaar Thomas.

I don't know if you could have a more positive update about a '09 kid this early in the process...

I guess he did transer out of Friendly, as speculated above, thus Thomas being a friend and former teammate. Anyways...

He does sound like a great kid and prospect. You can't discount the feeling he got when he grew up a Buckeye fan and received his first official offer from us as well. Also, we won't have a situation where his coach his pulling for the home school here, as he is a big Buckeye fan as well. Givens has the prototypical Tressel-esque CB size, at 6'0"+, roughly 180lbs and fast. It is easy to see now, with how good our secondary is and how often we play the Nickel package, why we need so many solid DBs on the roster. Tressel truly is a master at his craft.

It also helps that we are as of now only taking one DB in this class. So the depth chart should look very good to him next year.

Also, the video of Thomas as a CB is very impressive. If he can't cut it as a WR he is a stud DB IMO.
