'09 MI C Dashonte Riley (Syracuse Verbal)

Riley has an offer due to his size and likely progression.......the question is if he will be ready to contribute that first year in D-1 because that is what tOSU needs in that class.....I don't believe he will be. I compare him to Lauderdale.

I think he has more potential on offense than Lauderdale...He just needs to put it all together...But i agree in terms of him being a defensive stopper and laking an offensive game at the time...

I'm guessing he'll be a transfer from Georgetown in a few years
That's possible because one of their forwards just transferred out when I do not think it was because he was lazy. Also, take a look at Ewing. I don't think he performed very well while he was at IU and he isn't too bad of a player for Georgetown.

Well, I guess Riley is out of the picture for Ohio State. On to bigger and better things (I hope) for the Buckeyes.

Didn't sign with Georgetown, then decommitted from Georgetown, and now Georgetown is out of the picture. How strange is this: kid committed way back, then finally comes for his official visit this past weekend and was going to sign his LOI while he was there, but the visit makes him decide that DC isn't the place for him!

Oh, and per Rivals, it's X vs. OSU.

Washington Times - Riley retracts commitment from Georgetown

Rivals.com Basketball Recruiting - Riley does not sign, re-opens recruitment

For Ohio State to get involved with him I think you know that we would have to make sure a scholarship is open for next year and I do not think that will give us room for Payne in 2010.

Of course, but as the saying goes, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. This would help with class balance too....

Really interesting scenario. Somehow, I don't see Riley coming here, but weirder things have happend before. He'd be a nice pick-up at a position of need (seeing as though Mullens won't be here long, most likely).
