'09 MO PF Tyler Griffey (Illinois Verbal)

He's fine. Had a thriller Tue night.. 3'OT's. Team is just struggling to find itslef or gel if you will. Sorry for the cliche's but they are just not coming together. Team defense is not very good right now. Offense is starting to come around some though. 83 pts last Friday night in regulation...and 91 last night. (With the help of 3 ot's) Friday they scored 29 in the 3rd quarter alone. Just a really crazy crazy year...I thought they would be a lot better but they have some things to work on. Hopefully they will get better. The team could not buy a 3 down at the Stl shootout.. last night.....TG, had 2, team had 11. Go figure!!!

Tyler did tweak an ankle last night early in the second qtr too. He got shut out (0 pts in the 1st half).. but ended up with 16. (I think?) Hit a nice 3 with about 1 min left in the 3rd OT to tie the game. Missed a tip at the end of reg to win it too. Oh well. They banked a 3 in from the top of the key in the first OT to tie and send it to the 2nd OT. A deep 3 too.

Shooting much better from the free throw line this year...we worked on that. But I think needs to improve his rebounding now. Needs to get more rebounds outside his area...

Big conference rivalry game on Friday..boys should be really fired up, I know the other team will be ready. Perryville shoot out on Sat. too. Team is kind of banged up right now. I wonder which team will show up?? 3-2 is not where they thought they would be...but hey...it's HS ball and it's fun.

Thanks.. later. I don't check these boards very often..probably shouldn't write this.

The final buzzer sounded, and Lafayette sophomore Tyler Griffey jogged with his teammates to the locker room. A disheveled, middle-aged man, still groggy after a fourth-quarter nap, ran onto the court in pursuit.

Predicting the future

01/19/2007

We can make no assurances about which players will make it to the professional ranks, but these four St. Louis-area players stand a good chance. They might not have the best statistics, but their natural athletic talent makes them a force. Here's a brief introduction:

Basketball

Name: Tyler Griffey

School: Lafayette

Year in school: Sophomore

What you should know: This 6-foot-8 forward will play at a top Division I school, but he needs to get stronger.

Pertinent statistics: Averaged 13.3 points as a freshman and 15 this season. He also averages 6.8 rebounds.

Interesting Internet tidbit: Has his own website: www.tylergriffey.net

First Post-Dispatch mention: Dec. 18, 2000. Team Reebok won the boys fourth-grade division of the Herculaneum Black Cat Classic.

I have not made any of his summer games this year.. but his hs coach and summer coach are getting all kinds of comments. He's really starting to play with a littel moxey.. and a sort of chip on his shoulder too. Talked to one of the assistant coach's the other night too. (Coach Major??) Apparently are trip to the Ohio shootout is a no go now.. ?? we called him... so OK by the NCAA too. lol
