'09 OH LB/FB Mike Marrow (Alabama signee - transfer to E. Michigan)

Mike is a very athletic kid at his size.. Shows good speed on film and has a nose for the football. Also runs extremely hard and bounces would-be tacklers off in high school almost like Beanie does in college. He would be a great pickup for the Buckeyes in my opinion.

Good FB prospect and he moves pretty well for a big guy. Reminds me a bit of '08 scUM commit Christian Wilson. I think his only ticket in is at FB for sure (don't see him being an OSU caliber player on defense).

Funny he favors Penn St since his dad went to high school with Bo Pelini and then the obvious connection w/Ohio State from living in Ohio. I wonder if FB is turning him off? I loooooooove what he brings to the table as a HB/FB... his videos running the ball are very impressive.

In a word, Bruiser! He could come in and change some of Tressels ideas regarding running a fullback. He's not going to get 10 carries a game or anything close to that but some misdirection with Saine and Herron in the TB position is a real possibility for this guy. Does he have a problem with a blocking role though is the question? I could see why he's favoring those other programs right now in order to play LB'er. Of course, how many of those programs are going to move him once he's in the system? One thing I love about our staff is the upfront honesty. Some guys can make it and some cant.

As I mentioned in the update, he does not seem to have a preference as to where he plays. I know Homan was offered as a BIG SPEED player but there is a lot of talk about fullback which is interesting considering the staff told Marrow he was their #1 fullback target.

Yeah, I saw that, but if he really doesn't want to play there then he won't be happy, and he could just be saying he doesn't care where he plays to get an offer from us. However, as been said before by me and others, in the backfield carrying the ball seems to be his ticket. He has Beanie's size, and though maybe a step slower and not has agile on his feet, if he has that linebackers mentality he could be a devastating blocker and a very solid option in single back sets when we go to the spread with Pryor. He could be our "big back" in this class. 3 RB/HBs seems like what we will take.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this and if it is not please just delete. My question is what is the big difference between Homan, Studlen, and Marrow. I would think that Mike played at a higher level of competition last year than the other two and they all seem about the same physically.
