Defensive end Tyler Scott made it just in time.
As he and a graduate assistant from Northwestern?s football program drove up Saturday to Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, the Wildcats were disembarking from the team bus and going into the stadium. Scott, who had flown into Iowa City from Youngstown, Ohio, about an hour before was able to fall in line with his teammates.
And Scott, a 6-4, 260-pound sophomore, didn?t lose focus after attending his grandfather?s funeral that morning in Ohio.
??I made it clear to the coaches that I wanted to play [Saturday], and they did everything to get me there,?? Scott said. ??Once I got into the locker room, everything was the same ? same rituals and same stuff. It was a long day, but my family was really supportive.??
