'09 OH OL Chris Freeman (Missouri Signee)

Sounds great for OL and with him playing basketball at least shows he must have great feet for his size so maybe, he could play DT. I'VE always loved having a player with big daddy wilkinson size and he's bigger:biggrin: in the middle to eat up space and require two blocks to open up the speedy DE'S to SCARE the QB.

He's 6'8"-6'9". That doesn't exactly scream DT to me.

If he is athletic enough and has good knee bend, then he wouldn't be the first big tall DT (think Alan Branch) With one huge space eater and one quick leverage wrestler types (do we have any of these:biggrin:) we'd give O-lines fits.

When I think of extremely tall D-tackles, John Henderson (6-7 335) immediately comes to mind and he was an absolute beast at Tennessee.

Not saying it's impossible but I don't think we'd be getting the most out of his talents.
I like the fact OSU/FLORIDA are showing interest but, him playing any spot would make me :). Just bringing up my own opinion that something the d-line really needs because, most the season it seemed like the middle was weak against the run and causing pressure . Orlando pace played both ways/red zone in 2 of his 3 years. As much as I like having those wrestlers/football players in the middle I've always felt one of them with a really big space eater would make the defense more dominant. That would make the DE'S/LB'BERS/S look illegal in BLITZES.

From the OSU site...talks about how he started playing football. Nebraska offered a few weeks ago and mail is coming from the likes of Pittsburgh, Colorado, Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee. Talks about his interest in Ohio State.

Provided everything else is in order, I am okay with an early offer here...Mewhort, Hall and Freeman would be a nice OL class next year and a nice way to restock the in-state talent after going outside Ohio in '08. Kids who are 6-foot-9 with that kind of athleticism don't grow on trees...

Slightly OT, but where do you think Ricky Harris fits in this class? Do we possibly take 4 O-line, or is he a DT?

I'd love to get a super tall athlete to play tackle. Reminds me of Jared Gaither from Maryland who was 6'9", and I think he would have been great if he would have kept his head on straight. It's impossible to teach athleticism and reach, which are becoming more and more important for tackle prospects.

I always seem to forget about this kid and he has just amazing upside. I'd like to see how he does at camps and combines. I would think Mewhort, Hall, Harris, and Freeman could all end up Buckeyes and we'll figure out positions later. It will be interesting to see if we buck the T-wood trend.

As in the original "Da U"...not the new "Da U" (Minnesota...speaking of which, did I miss a meeting or something? When did we decide it was okay to call Minnesota "Da U"?)...

Back to Chris and his offer from Michael Irvin U...
