'09 TX LB/K Anthony Fera (Penn State Signee - transfer to Texas)

With a grayshirt he goes in the 2010 class. There should be at least 20 ships to give in 2010.

K/P depth is dangerously thin in 2010 and beyond. Unless Buchanon is going to do both.

It is very possible that Ben may do both, but I would love to have Anthony in as well. K/Ps are just as important as any play in the game, and I would like to have some depth in there as well.....especially when we are talking about kickers of elite potential.

From the OSU site...no offers yet but is drawing attention from Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, LSU and Oregon. Favors OSU and PSU. OSU has talked about a possible grayshirt offer, which he says is not ideal but he would be open to.

Michigan expected to take a kicker in the 2009 class
By JOSH HELMHOLDT ? FREE PRESS SPECIAL WRITER ? July 30, 2008

Michigan Rich Rodriguez tapped former Michigan kicker Brandon Kornblue to run his first kicking camp in June. The two-day event attracted some of the top talent from across the country, and from Michigan?s standpoint was an opportunity to evaluate prospects for a potential scholarship offer. With the current roster of kickers getting along in eligibility, at least one kicking prospect is expected to be offered in the 2009 class.

Following Michigan?s camp, two names emerged at the top of the list for the kicker scholarship. Houston (Texas) St. Pius X?s Anthony Fera (6-2, 230 pounds) actually came in during Michigan?s regular camp week to kick for Michigan coaches because his family was going on vacation during the kicking camp. His booming leg and overall athleticism made an impression on Rodriguez and his staff.

Fera also feels strongly about his chances of being Michigan?s top guy. He reported Sunday evening that he had received an email from Michigan assistant coach Fred Jackson saying the decision was down to two guys. If the lot is cast in Fera?s favor, he is ready to make a decision.

"If they end up offering both of us at the same time and it is first come, first serve, then I will probably take it,? Fera said. ?But if they give me a week or two, then I would probably take that week or two and talk it over with my parents."

I like this kid a lot. I love that coach T focuses on Kicker/Punters that are football players and not just specialists.

It'd be nice if the Buckeyes had a ship to offer him this year. Lacking that, taking the offer from PSU would certainly be understandable.

From TheWolverine.....Michigan has offered. Top 3 schools are Penn State, Ohio State & Michigan, with no leader. Does not have a timetable for making a decision at this point.
