'09 VA QB Kevin Newsome (Penn State signee - transfer to Temple)

Thought they were going to go another year without that savior of a QB that a RR offense can't do without.

Newsome is something else- good pick up for scUM. Funny enough he's gonna end up at scUM the year after they drop the pro-style offense. I still can't envision the winged-helmet team running the option. It's sacrilege.

Shoot you never saw Bo coach then, that's all he had up until Elvis's first year.

Something for you to envision. :wink2: Leach, Dennis Franklin, etc. Newsome will be something of a return to those days.
I was talking about Newsome with a VT buddy of mine last night and this was true...

...until recently when Kevin discovered that VT offered another QB in the same class...

What cracks me up, is now, the latest on Kevin says scUM, but if he thinks that Dick Rod is only going to offer 1 QB for 2009, he either delusional or being lied to. I guess correct me if I'm wrong, but TSUN will need 2 maybe 3 QBs in 2009 since they landed NONE in 2008...
Michigan star QB recruit wavering on commitment?

FREE PRESS STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES - June 24, 2008

Kevin Newsome, Michigan's dual-threat QB commit who could be the offensive centerpiece Rich Rodriguez has been waiting for, has decided to transfer.

Transfer high schools, that is.

Newsome will transfer from Western Branch High School and play his senior year at Hargrave Military Academy.

But Michigan fans breathing a sigh of relief shouldn't feel 100% safe yet, according to Newsome's former high school coach.

Former Western Branch coach Lew Johnston, a close family friend to the Newsome, said Rivals.com's fourth-ranked dual-threat QB of the 2009 class might not be as firm in his commitment to the Wolverines as some may think.

"I thought when he picked Michigan, he jumped the gun a little bit, and I was disappointed," Johnston told the Virginian-Pilot. "I told him that."

Virginia Tech appears to be one of the schools giving Newsome the most attention. The Hokies have enjoyed success with dual-threat QBs Michael and Marcus Vick. They were also Newsome's favorite team growing up.

"I'm not going to push it, but there's something about playing in your home state," Johnston told the Virginian-Pilot....

I was wondering how it would work out with all of the other QBs (1 ATH projected to QB in RR's system) that DickRod is bringing in for '09...

Well, Newsome leaving his old school is a positive for us since his old coach seems to be pushing VT, but if Newsome feels he made the wrong decision so be it. Decommit now so we can bring Forcier on board to hack off PSU.

That is, if Forcier isn't already on board.

I look forward to VTs "Where Are They Now" feature on the Vick brothers in this season's Media Guide.

Still a better track record than Rich Rod's QBs. At least Mike Vick played in the NFL for a while and was relatively successful. Marcus was drafted, wasn't he?

:tongue2:
