'10 IL WR Kyle Prater (USC Signee - transfer to Northwestern)

I honestly haven't been that impressed with Prater. His game film I thought was above average and he didn't live up to the hype in San Antonio.

Williams' game film was more impressive, IMHO. He's not your typical tall possession receiver. He's agile/athletic, he's got surprising speed for a dude that tall, and reportedly he's still growing taller (the sky is literally the limit, in that sense). Can't wait to see how he develops with a strength and training program, combined with Ohio State's coaching staff. If a 4* can be a sleeper, he's a sleeper.

Sounds like Kiffin is having to push some people out the door in order to keep their scholarship numbers in place with their sanctions.

With the scholarship reductions, you have less time to prove your value to the program. The fat gets trimmed a lot quicker...

but aren't they still limited to only taking 15 per year? to me, that doesn't provide a lot of incentive to run off guys that I will need in 2 years.

And 75 total for 3 years with no way to make up for lost numbers. If USC suffers attrition through transfers and guys leaving early for the NFL they are going to be in a world of hurt in 2-3 in numbers of scholarships. They simply may end up under 60 scholarship players by 2015.

I don't think so. Pretty sure they will still use early enrollees to offset any scholarship shortfalls. I'd expect them to be at or very near 75 for the next 3 years.

Any ideas about where he might go? He flipped his commitment from Illinois, any chance he's looking to come back to this part of the world?

edit: okay, so looking through, I don't think he was ever actually committed to Illinois. But even still, they seemed to be at the top of his list throughout his process. I'm off the mind that, even if the top kids aren't coming to Ohio State, I'd sooner see them go to another Big Ten team than go to another conference. The better competition we play against week in and week out, the better we'll be.
