'10 MI QB Robert Bolden (Penn State Signee - transfer to LSU)

Not sure why Bolden would be heading to PSU considering they got Newsome last year and already have a verbal from Jones in this class. If he ends up at PSU I guess you've got to give him some credit for not being scared of competition.

Two more QB dominoes fell today as Notre Dame accepted a commitment from OH QB Andrew Hendrix and MI QB Joe Boisture made a switch from BC to Michigan State after attaining a MSU offer.
Does this clear the way for a Robert Bolden commitment this weekend to Penn State? I'm told there is a very good chance.

There were some big developments over the past week or so.

WOTS is Bolden Sr. asked for a job at MSU. Pissed Dantonio off, then pissed off Bolden Sr. when he was told no, and basically blew up Bolden Jr.'s recruitment to MSU.

Bolden Jr. was an MSU lean as most of you know, now it is gone, and he looking for somewhere to go, with PSU being the current target. I can imagine he is mighty ticked at his Dad right now.

Interesting from the perspective his Dad wants a job for his son's services. If true, that could complicate his recruitment anywhere, and certainly puts a spotlight on PSU. With these recent developments, I could easily see him end up with Saban at 'Bama.

The Boisture thing took off in short order in part to the Bolden situation and the fact BC took another QB, which Boisture did not expect. Boisture was an MSU lean and got slow played so he verballed to BC, when the spot at MSU opened, he grabbed it.

Arkansas snagged an FSU basketball recruit with this same business when I was an intern for the program. Kid had actually been a verbal for months before he switched his decesion a day or two before siging day. It was awesome, and the coaches loved it......

As inept as the NCAA is, you would think they would at least be smart enough to monitor things like parents given jobs at the same time their child commits to a school, or like in BB when a HS coach is hired as an assistant when their child commits to the school.

If I, said booster for that school, give the kid a ride to the airport, its a violation.

The rules are certainly a complete mess when it comes to the NCAA.

If it is true you have nothing to worry about...this info is better suited for the rumor mill. On the recruiting forums there is no swearing or recruit bashing...I know your not bashing the kid but this a strong accusation better suited elsewhere.

Please note my posts are rumor. I am new here, and did not realize I had to label these posts as rumor.

I'm not bashing the kid in any way, I wanted him to come to MSU, still do. I only posted it because you all had some interest in what happened with his recruitment, and thought you all might be interested in what happened according to what we are hearing up here. What I said has not only been reported on recruiting sites, but heard from some in the media as well. As billmac91 posted earlier, it happens.

I am far from a recruit basher, recruits make decisions for alot of reasons, some good and some bad. I wish them luck where ever they go, regardless of the reasons why. They are kids.

I would be interested to know what unionfutura knows, as he refutes what we are are hearing up here. If what I am hearing is incorrect, I will say so.

There is no disputing Bolden's interest in PSU was sudden and Boisture's abrupt turnaround to drop BC for MSU had something odd behind it. Coaches don't recruit player for that long and be in the lead, and have it all blow up in a week. The Bolden to PSU and Boisture to MSU all happened over a 3-4 day period.

Mods, if you feel what I said is rumor and should be moved, please do so.

He would certainly not be sued for this. He isn't the one making the rumors up.

There's a reporter who posted it on his recruiting blog a few days ago. That would be the man targeted, especially since he is credentialed and affiliated with a news service. Or something like that. I don't know what Mike Valenti actually does, but he's apparently accusing the Bolden family of all those things.

offering jobs to fathers is one of PSU's best moves.

Mike Valenti started it?

He's a sports radio guy during prime time on the major sports station in Detroit. Huge MSU fan.

Mike Valenti is a co-anchor of the Valenti and Foster sports radio show on 97.1 the ticket out of Detroit. He's a younger guy and a firecracker along with being a huge MSU fan. While he is a homer they have one of the better sports shows and the man knows his stuff imo. Not sure about his connection to the program but he is a die-hard spartan fan.

This came from Valentini?

and you believed it? Lord, the pucker pucker guy? His own university thinks he's an embarrassment. Listen I have close ties to the Orchard Lake staff, and they like this family and cannot believe these accusations against this family. I remember earlier in the week when Bolden didn't commit it was because he didn't want to compete against Andrew Maxwell, who is a nice QB, but he's no sure thing by a long shot. Now he didn't commit to MSU because his dad is a cheater.

Please, if the dad had his way the kid would go to Northwestern or Vanderbilt.

BTW

If Mark was told by a father you can have my kid, if I get a job at your school, he would turn him into the NCAA faster than you can yell Green and White. Mark doesn't play around with that nonsense, they kept recruiting him after he told him he wasn't sure. MSU took the Boisture kid because he wanted to go there. They didn't want to strike out, that's all.
