ATH D.J. Williamson
6'1, 175 pounds
Warren G. Harding
Class of 2010

In 2007, sophomore D.J. Williamson made contributions at wide receiver, cornerback, and as a kickoff returner. As a freshman in 2006, he was a memeber of WGH's 4x100 relay team that advance to the Regional finals in Austintown, where they finished in 5th place. He is currently having a solid year running indoor track. He would have went out for basketball, but he wants to focus on getting in better shape for football.

Obviously, it's very early in the recruiting process for Williamson, but Ohio State has shown interest, which is a good sign at this point (or any point for that matter). He has the tools to develop into a nice one, but he's going to have to continue to work hard to see how far his potential can take him. All signs are good right now, so we'll see what happens over the next couple years.

Below is a film link of Williamson courtesy of Scouting Ohio.

Very solid film for a sophomore...I think that he could be an early offer next year...

Not sure where I like him better at...He has speed to burn on offense, but not sure if the overall game as WR is there or just speed...I did like his ability to go up and get the ball...I would compare him to Youbouty in terms of a CB...I really think that he could be a lock down corner with his size and speed, but would need to see some more film to really get a good look...

Either way this is one to keep an eye on for sure...

D.J. has a ways to go, but his future is definitely promising. He has the potential to become a game breaker. He has decent size for his age, so that should help him out in the recruitng process. A solid summer (track, camps, etc.) would do wonders for him, especially if he backs it up with a solid junior season.

Worm,

How does he compare to Mario Manningham?

D.J. has an awful lot of potential and yes, he does remind me of Manningham just a bit. With that being said, Manningham's story is unlike none that I've ever seen before, and teh good part for me is that it's not over yet. D.J. has the tools to develop into a nice one, but at this stage in Manningham's career (5 years ago), not only did everybody in Ohio know who he was, but he already had the Ohio State's, Michigan's, & Florida's ready to offer him a scholarship.

Manningham motivates D.J. both on & off the field. He's (Mario) not the person that some tried to make him out to be. He works hard and doesn't hype himself up to be more than he's not. D.J. is the exact same way, and he's learning that if he wants to be as great as the ones that have come before him, he's going to have to work hard all year round to make his dreams a reality. I'm not going to judge D.J. by what Mario accomplished, but I think that he (D.J.) can become an elite player sooner than later.

Yesterday at the Austintown Regional track meet, Williamson advanced to next week's state final in the 100 metter dash by running a 10.82 (finishing in third place). WGH's 4x100 relay team of Williamson, Jerrale Butts, Joe Threats, and Aunre Davis also advanced to the state meet.

Williamson definitely has the potential, but we'll just have to wait and see what he does on the field this year. He showed some good signs last season and he has had a solid offseason in both indoor & outdoor track. A big year for him is a strong possibility, but I'm going to let him prove it on the field before I put him above the majority of the state. He's definitely one of the better athletes in the class of 2010, but we'll see how that translates on the field. So far, everything looks good!
