'10 OH ATH Spencer Ware (LSU signee)

I've been hearing he really want to play baseball too, so UNC and LSU are in front because of their baseball teams and it doesn't hurt that LSU is in the championship. He has a football offer from both schools. But it's not like Bob Todd's program is bad, so I don't know, sounds like staying closer to home is no factor to him.

My thoughts exactly. And if college baseball is so appealing to him (I hate to say it) there is no comparison between SEC baseball and Big 10 ball. Good luck Spencer...

Ware will lead Princeton again
Posted by mikedyer at 7/22/2009 11:56 AM EDT on Cincinnati.com

Princeton doesn't return many starters on either side of the ball, but coach Bill Leach believes the Vikings will surprise some people this upcoming season.

The Vikings will be led by senior QB Spencer Ware, who threw for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns last year. He rushed for 741 yards and 15 touchdowns. Ware, who has committed to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January, has done a good job of handling the recruiting process, according to Leach.

Leach said Ware is flying back to Cincinnati today after being at LSU on Tuesday. Ware has more than 20 offers, including LSU, Michigan, Oregon, UC, Ohio State, Louisville, Colorado, Duke, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa and others.

"He handles it really well," Leach said. "He's a mature kid. So much more mature than what people know. He's always been like that."

Ware will eventually narrow his list and plans to take his five official visits. "He's not in a hurry to make a decision," Leach said.

While Ware is the focal point of the Princeton offense, he will also see time at free safety or strong safety. He will also be involved with special teams in a significant way.

"We can't afford not to have him out there," Leach said. "...He's not coming off the field unless he absolutely needs a rest or something."

The Vikings also have senior RB Tevin Redmon (138 yards last season); senior OT Kyle Budde (6-6, 220), senior WR Bryan Shelby, junior WR Jay McCants and senior offensive linemen Jonas Batte (6-5, 315) and Jared Ballew (6-4, 275). Senior OT A.J. Hood (6-6, 270) is a Division I prospect.

Defensively, the Vikings will be led by senior strong safety Josh West (three-year starter) and senior DL Rakeem Chandler (6-4, 225), who is a Division I prospect. Seniors Garyn Pride and Ryan Sawyer return in the secondary.

Leach admitted his team had a strong schedule at the beginning of last season and it contributed to the 5-5 record.

This season's schedule is a bit more favorable at the beginning. The Vikings will have to take advantage of the early schedule because a challenging month of October awaits with road games that include Colerain and Lakota West.
