'10 OH OL Matt James (Notre Dame Signee - RIP)

I hate the idea of OSU backing off of Matt James. Who cares if he favors ND? Recruit him more intensely. And yet, we did not back off from Steve Rehring, Kyle Mitchum, and Connor Smith. Unbelievable. Sure, I'll trust the coaching staff's ability to judge O-Line talent, but then I keep thinking about the last three names I just mentioned.......

Steve Rhering played a lot and overall was not that bad of a player.

Some people are waaaay off on the backing off thing. But, it just goes to show that even the so called "experts" are not always right. Or not "informed".
In general I believe we tend to invest too much into these situations. :tongue2:

Wonder why the staff entertained Matt at practice today if they are "backing off" him...:sneaky:

Hey, I said the cooling thing was a guess, not something I knew :box:... I was just trying to connect the dots... I've been confused a little by this one... He had strong interest in us early, but it's seemed to wane... And I know we haven't hit him up as much as we have Hurst lately, so I thought that may be a reason...

I had heard he was going to be there... If he doesn't commit to ND this weekend he's planning on coming to the tOSU spring game too...

Much has made of Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier offensive lineman Matt James visiting Notre Dame this past weekend for the Fighting Irish' spring game. However, it was another recent visit James made that seems to have impressed the huge and talented offensive lineman more than his trip to South Bend.

In addition to Notre Dame James visited LSU, and according to a source, James liked what he saw and hit things off pretty well with LSU coach Les Miles.

According to the source, James still seems more enamored with Ohio State and Cincinnati than he does with Charlie Weis and Notre Dame.

James is expected to attend Cincinnati's spring game this weekend. Just before visiting Notre Dame last Saturday, he visited Ohio State.

Matt recently visited Notre Dame and had a good time, no commit though. Top 3 are the same (Ohio State, ND and Cincy) and is also looking at Florida, BC and Wisconsin. Says he was told he is their #1 guy on the OL this year.

So, the no commit was good... but is Seantrel Henderson not at the top of their list? Apparently not.

Question for X fans:

Will Luke Massa's commitment to Cincinnati today have any affect/impact on James' future decision? Will Massa 'recruit' for the Bearcats? are James and Massa close?

thoughts?

Yes. I'm convinced James to UC is a real possibility now.
