Power forward
Cincinnati (OH) Moeller
AAU: Eric Gordon All-Stars
Ht: 6-foot-9
Wt: 220 lbs
3-star prospect by both Scout and Rivals

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting Cincinnati Moeller center Griffin McKenzie was offered scholarships to Ohio State and Vanderbilt Thursday, July 16.

He received an offer from Northwestern early this week and also has offers from Cincinnati, Xavier, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Western Kentucky, Ball State and Wright State.

McKenzie (6-foot-9) missed most of last season with a back injury but was available for the postseason. He averaged 9.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in nine games for the Crusaders.
Report: Buckeyes Offer McKenzie

He has been really impressive lately apparently. He has been picking up alot of bigger offers. He can shoot the jumper and also work in the post. Some people believe he will be in the Top 100 for Rivals when it is updated.

Of course he is being recruited as a role player. He's not a superstar and will be a solid 4 year player. He's a pretty good fit for this recruiting class.

Sullinger 4/5
McKenzie 4/5
Thomas 3/4
Sibert 2/3
Smith 1/2
Craft 1

I would rather have Payne because he is more of a center and a very good defender, but I'm not sold on Weatherspoon.

I don't really know anything about McKenzie but was hoping OSU would find another PF worthy of an offer. Seems like Payne is more likely to go somewhere else than OSU and Weatherspoon is not really a 4. I'm looking forward to learning more about this guy and the possibility of him filling the missing spot in this class.

McKenzie's interest
Griffin McKenzie, a 6-9 senior-to-be from Cincinnati Moeller, has been one of the hotter names with his strong summer play after coming back from a mild stress fracture in his back.
McKenzie, who plays for the 17-and-under Eric Gordon All-Stars, has picked up offers from Cincinnati, Northwestern, Tennessee, Providence, Wake Forest and Xavier. He said IU seems to have cooled on him.
"They've shown interest before, but not as heavily as I'd like," McKenzie said.

He and Craft seem like the 4 year players you need. He's a guy that will do the dirty work on the boards, D up, not need alot of shots, etc.

Hard worker. The staff knows Payne isn't coming here, and must feel the same about Weatherspoon now.

played against him last year, but not much (as we were the much lesser opponent, he probably played a quarter)... but in preparing for the game we watched film of one of his first games back and he basically is the methodical type who is a gamer. He doesn't wow you but he just plays the game and plays it very well. I too believe this is a guy we need around for four years...:oh:

Per Mike Dyer:

Moeller 6-9 senior forward Griffin McKenzie has received offers from Ohio State and Vanderbilt.

"We've been pretty busy," said McKenzie's coach, Carl Kremer. "We're having a meeting tonight with Griff's parents. It's myself and an assistant coach. We're going to help Griffin and put together a game plan in terms of how he'll make this decision."
