10 Questions with Eric Schwartz

Highstreet

Heisman
I recently had a chance to sit down and ask a few questions from a relatively unheard of recruit. He hails from Clyde High School the same school as former Buckeye standout Tim Anderson. Along with having some great measurables(6'0, 225, 4.7) he is a very articulate kid, and a standout in the classroom.

Highstreet: How well did your team perform last year, and do you guys look strong heading into next season?

Eric Schwartz: Last year our team was 8-3 getting our first playoff berth since 1995. This year we want more than an opening playoff game--we're looking to get to Massillon.

HS: What position do you play, and if given the opportunity what position best suites you on the collegiate level?

ES: I play Inside Linebacker, and Running Back. In college, I'm hoping to play Linebacker, but wherever I'm needed is where I'll play.

HS: Is there a player that you model your game after?

ES: I'd have to go with Jeremiah Trotter--he started out on the special teams this year, but worked hard and ended up leading his team to the Super Bowl.

HS: What do you think are some things you need to work on to become a better player?

ES: My strong points would have to be that I can read an offense very well, and I can hit pretty hard.

HS: What do you think are some things you need to work on to become a better player?

ES: I need to become faster, more agile, and working on following through with my hard hits.

HS: Will you be attending any Summer Camps?

ES: This summer i'll be going to the Nike Camp in Penn. State, the MSL combine in Gateway Pa., the Ohio State session 1, the Senior OSU camp, the PSU camp, and i'm going to try to get to the Pitt and Purdue one day Senior prospect camps.

HS: Have you been garnering any written or verbal interest from any colleges.

ES: I have been receiving letters from most of the Big 10 schools, and some Big East schools.

HS: Are you motivated by the fact you must work that much harder to garner attention being that you are virtually an unknown name at this early stage?

ES: It's definately motivating. I've been reading some of these boards, and from what I can tell OSU could be getting 3 linebackers, Ross Homan, most say Thad. Gibson, so that leaves one spot for me, so thats my goal.

HS: Can you tell us a little about your academic standing?

ES: Academically, I am in the top Quarter of my class, and I got a 22 on the ACT.

HS: Are you a fan of any particular school, and are you hoping for any particular offers?

ES: It has always been my dream to be a Buckeye, and after I read "What It Means To Be A Buckeye", i've wanted it more.

One can only hope that a quality kid like Eric Schwartz will have the oppurtunity he desires to earn that ever elusive scholarship from Ohio State at this season's camp circuit.
Go Bucks!
