Not the sort of rave review you'd expect...

Its clear this kid has stars in his eyes, at least thats what I took away from his quotes. As if alumni base has anything to do with you being able to play a bowl game, get exposure and jump up the draft board... but hey, when snoop dog is calling you and you drink the kiffin kool-aid, its all good!

BN$--Turene Targets OSU-Miami For Official Visit

Kent wants to be in Columbus for the Miami game and plans to take all five official visits before graduating in December.
Glad to hear that he has a visit lined up. I have some doubts as to a kid who seems very committed to the USC-vibe really reconsidering where he wants to go to college. However, the UM-Bucks game should be a great atmosphere to change one's mind. :) Here's hoping...

Boyd Anderson LB Kent Turene a 'bookworm of football'
By EVAN DREXLER
Miami Herald Writer

When Lauderhill little league football coach Fred Sturgis met Kent Turene in 2006, Turene knew nothing about football and was a shy, quiet kid.

Four years later, Turene eats, breathes and dreams the sport.

``Football is a way of life,'' Turene says.

The Boyd Anderson senior linebacker and Southern Cal commit devours game film. After his little league team lost in the second round of the playoffs in 2006, Sturgis said Turene spent the entire offseason watching tape of the game. Turene called Sturgis at all hours of the night to discuss football. And that obsession with correcting mistakes led their team to win the state championship in 2007.

This weekend, Turene dropped by USC and once again phoned Sturgis, the man he still goes to for advice, to rave about something in the Trojans' athletic facility.

``He called me and said, `Coach Fred, there's film rooms where I can watch film all day!' '' Sturgis said. ``He's a bookworm of football.''

Free Rivals - Auburn nabs former Texas Tech commit

Lauderdale Lakes (Fla.) linebacker Kent Turene officially visited Texas Tech this weekend, ending a three-week stretch of visits and six-month commitment to USC.

Sunday morning, Turene announced he was decommitting from USC and officially re-opening his recruitment.

"I texted the USC coaches to let them know I was decommitted, but I haven't heard from them yet," Turene told USCFootball.com on Sunday afternoon. "I was on the plane coming home."

Does anyone else find it odd that Auburn is nabbing kids that weren't even listing them prior to the commitment? First Westerman now Turene... they must have a doozy of a 'pitch' to give these kids.

Uh, honestly no, I'm not suprised. [sarcasm]That NCAA title did wonders for them. Surely there can't be any other reason for their success[/sarcasm]
