'11 FL WR A.J. "Cinco" Sebastiano (Northern Illinois Signee)

I would be shocked to see him get an offer before visiting...not a knock on A.J. but I just feel like the staff already has offers out to 3 WRs and are going to want to see the kid perform in person before deciding on an offer.

Ideal replacement for Dane in my opinion.

He's nowhere near as quick as Dane. I posted on Scout when his name first came out that he reminded me of Tandon Doss from Indiana. Doss only had three BCS offers coming out of high school- Indiana, Kentucky, and Purdue. He had a poor forty time and decent height, but he is a hard worker and makes plays.

Sebastiano is going to have to wait for the first batch of wide receiver verbals to shake out before he gets his BCS offers, but they will come. I see him as a low-BCS kid, but not Ohio State level. He just doesn't have the physical skills compared to other kids that Ohio State has on the board.

I'll say this, though; if a program is looking to break into a high school that always produces, taking A.J. Sebastiano would be a great way to do so.

I just have a hard time concluding that he's a low BCS kid after hearing about his performence at the 7 on 7. That event had the the best assortment of Florida high school players that will be assembled this year and Sebastiano was one of the five best performers at the event.

I just don't see how Dane was a superior prospect. Maybe he was a little quicker, but Sebastiano is not slow by any means. Those in attendence who scout these kids for a living said he has good speed but not great, and that he showed good quickness when running after the catch.

I don't know, his star teammates gushed about the guy, those in attendence who scout Florida said he was awesome. I just have a hard time imagining Ohio State can realistically do better in the slot.

Quickness is more important than long speed at the slot for most offensive schemes, mostly because of hot routes. Dane is one quick cat; I think you are underselling him here.

From talking to one of the people who do attend these things for a living, I get the impression that low BCS level is actually a high projection for him. His intangibles become less valuable as the level of competition goes up, as the physical disparity becomes more pronounced.

He is no doubt a very good player, but I don't see Ohio State-level with him. You can teach a lot of the things Sebastiano does better than his counterparts at the high school level- settling into coverage, stride length variation, body positioning, etc.

But the good news is, he will have the opportunity to prove me completely wrong at camp. If he does, I will be very happy for him.

Agreed. Wynn is in the bag at slot, with decent odds on Spencer and possibly Jennings. You also have Story and Dorsett, who we are in the conversation with. I think we will get a feel for them unless Cinco blows it up at our camp before then.

I wonder if this kid would see an offer if we struck out with the trio of Story, Jennings and Dorsett? He'd fit well here in our pro-style offense with his great route running and physical play. I didn't think UF would be interested in him, since they seem to go after purely speed guys, and don't worry too much about routes.

Finally thought of who A.J. reminded me of, a pretty great receiver out of Purdue:

Catching Up With AJ Sebastiano

While many of you are elated over the news of the recent Jeremy Cash commitment, there is another player in the Sunshine State who is flying a little bit more under the radar. That player is North Broward wide receiver and 7-on-7 teammate of Jeremy Cash, AJ Sebastiano.
Sebastiano, who goes by the nickname ?Cinco? (thus why Cash has become ?Ocho?), was not a well known name on the recruiting front through his first three seasons in high school, but recent success in the spotlight against big named players has put this speedster on the map.
Originally from Ohio, Sebastiano has the Buckeyes on his mind and will be making a visit this weekend to Columbus for the OSU Spring Game. Although he doesn?t have an offer in hand just yet, the staff has been talking to Cinco lately and pending room in the class and pressure from his friend Cash, AJ might have Scarlet and Gray in his future.
We caught up with Sebastiano to talk about the latest in his recruitment, his skills as a wide receiver, where he?d like to play his college ball and more. Highlights showing you why Cinco has caught the staff?s eyes follow the interview, so be sure to check that out too

Continued.....

Great pic with the article of "Cinco" and Jeremy "Ocho" Cash. AJ wants the Bucks' offer BADLY!

Scout $

Video by The Bank.....A.J. talks about his current visit at Ohio State. Will return to Ohio State this summer for camp and also talks about the other camps he plans on attending.

Very well spoken kid. Sounds VERY determined to get some offers. Here's hoping he gets one from Ohio State.
