Wow.

So I have a buddy who is a MState fan who is very interested in this recruiting saga.

Apparently, DeAnthony has been putting up videos on his twitter account 'committing' and 'decommitting' to several schools. He does his best to make sure that he offends every one of them. I know that there are no twitter links allowed, but it's pretty easy to find.

I know what the recruiting forum rules are, and therefore I will follow the adage: "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all."

In the videos, Arnett, a four-star recruit, according to rivals.com, is ?interviewed? by someone with a comic tone. After praising USC coach Lane Kiffin in his first ?commitment? video, he opened the second video wearing an Ohio State sweatshirt and saying he had decommitted from the Trojans. He then donned a Wolverines sweatshirt and hat and said he was ?all in? for Michigan.
Later this evening, Arnett posted another video where he "announced" that he was decommitting from U-M and then put on a pink Central Michigan sweatshirt to and said he'd become a Chippewa.
A few minutes after that, another video was posted were he decommitted from CMU and committed to Tennessee. An hour later, Arnett and the interviewer then dissected a breakdown of Arnett's recruitment and then committed to MSU.

I don't know. Decided to check this saga out...and I honestly came away laughing. Maybe it's because OSU wasn't invested in this.

(not going to link so I hope this is OK and maybe this ends up needing it's own thread but 2 quotes that stood out)
It's krazy how us recruits have the world in a frenzy..Are we that powerful?? Why are grown men watching our every tweet lol? We run the map
and the sad part is they really take this stuff serious! If your over 30 following me news flash Im 18 dont judge me!

He's playing everyone. Or should I say, everyone is getting played. Is it the best way? No, but I'll still chuckle at how much of a fool he's making of everyone. He knows exactly what he's doing. Making a mockery of what the recruiting world has become.

I will disagree with his "don't judge me" point, because maybe it is childish, but so long as he's made his intentions known to each school, then I find this situation to be pretty remarkable and funny.

I like to follow recruiting, but when it comes down to it, I'll just worry about cheering for whatever guys are wearing scarlet and gray when each fall season kicks off.

At no point in any of these tweets (thank god BP avoids this "source") or videos should people have taken this kid seriously. They were obvious skits, but services and message boards blew up. Well done I say.

edit- as far as him wearing M*ch*g*n gear into the Woody Hayes Athletic Center (update from the summer)...maybe I take back everything I just said. :pissed:

Not so fast my friend.

After Tennessee's season-ending loss to Kentucky ? the Vols' first loss in the series in 26 years, clinching *their second consecutive losing season ? Derek Dooley's honeymoon in Knoxville is officially over.*Barely a month later, the second-year head coach is taking another PR hit for preventing one of his former players from transferring to a Big Ten school to be near his ailing father.
DeAnthony Arnett, a former top-100 prospect from Saginaw, Mich., who arrived as one of the headliners of Dooley's first full recruiting class earlier this year, decided after the season to return to his home state to be closer to his father, who struggles with diabetes and has endured multiple heart attacks and surgeries. Arnett wanted to transfer to Michigan or Michigan State, but Dooley put the kibosh on those plans by restricting Arnett's release to Mid-American Conference schools.

Never understood why a kid would need to be released when scholarships are annual. When the school year is over just don't accept the scholarship for the following year.

They are not annual. They can be annual.

There is also the matter of paying your own way for the rest of this year after the coach kicks you off the team because you transferred there anyway.
