'12 IL OL Jordan Diamond (Auburn Signee)

Newest HS all-star game gets one of nation?s top OL - Sporting News

Sometimes, competition among national All-American games to land talent can be as fierce as the competition among schools to land talent.

If that?s the case, the new Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl?which hopes to be a direct competitor with the more established U.S. Army All-American Game and the Under-Armour All-America Bowl?is doing pretty well. Over the weekend, the Semper Fidelis game managed to land Sporting News Top 125 player Jordan Diamond, who is rated No. 19. The Jan. 3, 2012, game in Phoenix will be the first Semper Fidelis showcase.

Diamond is by far the best prospect the game has landed. He is a 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive lineman out of Simeon High School in Chicago. He holds 18 scholarship offers, including those from Arizona, Auburn, Florida State, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

By Helmholdt...says he doesn't care how many OL Michigan takes and that the coaches will let him know when they are down to their last OL schollie...schools that stand out are Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, Tennessee, Auburn and Wisconsin...Miami and ASU offered and says he grew up a Miami fan as long as he was a Michigan fan.

Jordan says he is not going to rush into anything even though Michigan only has one spot left. He is interested to see what happens with tOSU and will commit late.

I realize that recruits are put in a position where it's hard to please all the different sites, new sources, etc. But I would think that he would be well served to do exactly as he said he would. Being a blue chip OL and seeing the opportunity afforded him at OSU then seeing the efforts to build depth at UM should not be hard to understand. He may really be a fan of UM but I tend to think that we are not yet out of the picture. Even more so if the NCAA things come out in our favor.

I know it has often been said that the longer a recruit takes to decide the better in state schools stand. That reality has played out in OSU's favor many times with our in state kids in the past. But, this year with the unusual circumstances we are dealing with I think the very opposite may be true. Just meaning that we may stand a better and better shot with the out-of-state, higher profile, kids who drag their feet somewhat and allow for more positive news to develop for us. I especially think this would be true for OL and WR. I know, a very obvious observation but still one that could help shape the final outcome of this class.
