(12) Ohio State vs. (24) North Carolina - CBS Sports Classic - Sat 12/20 @ 1pET

My thought is you can't get a team ready to play a top 25 team by playing nothing but gimme games.

I've never really been on this bandwagon during all of the Thad years, but I'm think I'm finally jumping on. The BIG (even though down a bit) will get this team shaped up, but the team could be half way there already with a better non-conference schedule.

I still really like this roster and the potential this team has. There will be some losses but I think this team has a high upside that we'll eventually start to see come February or March.

BTW, this is the first Buckeye bball game I've seen this year. My take it that Anthony Lee is definitely the best overall option at the center position. Amir has a clear size advantage on him, but I still think he's clearly the better player. I'd love to hear the thoughts from those who have seen more than just the one game that I've seen.

I just hate the zone defense. There are too many gaps and the Buckeyes are not playing it very well to say the least. Williams (Amir) needs to play like a Buckeye and bring it every game not just against Sacred Heart. Russell needs to realize that he has other guys on the team that can score and not try to win every game by himself. Loving and Thompson are really playing well but without a big man presence this team is going to struggle for a while.

Amir was the only big they had that was reliable at getting stops. Lee had a nice helpside block in this game but usually he doesn't do anything remotely helpful on defense.

Our lack of real defense in the zone puts too much pressure on our big(s) and they don't really have that kind of talent. I wouldnt mind seeing more of a matchup or 1-3-1 to cover up the holes that appear and help alleviate the easy layups. That or extend the 2-3 to the wing and rotate underneath. The way they play it at the moment it almost looks like a 4-1 and the movement isnt really very good. Carolina had a great shooting night and it killed the Bucks.
