ESPN said:
April, 2010: Jefferson is a long and extra lean wing that has a smooth game. He can score in the post with quick moves and finish with either hand. He makes a play on the perimeter with a nice show and go move that will end in a mid range pull up. He excels in transition where most of his points are generated. Jefferson handles the ball well and is a good passer. He can also make a play from the high post area with he will attack the rim and score using his length. He must work to extend his shooting range to where he can knock down the three on a regular basis and set up his ability to slash. At times he needs to play with more urgency and he will need to add strength in order to stay on pace to be a special player.

Has offers from Wake Forest, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Villanova, Penn State, Temple and LaSalle...has been in contact with Florida State, Ohio State, Syracuse, Georgetown, Stanford and Texas, among others.

Standout players

Amile Jefferson
2012, PF, 6-8
Jefferson was active on both ends of the floor by finishing around the basket and rebounding. He ran the floor extremely well for easy baskets, which led to a 10-point second quarter against Team Europe. Jefferson worked the baseline and went to his half-hook off the glass over his left shoulder for many important baskets. He played with heart and emotion and was the key player in USA 2012's comeback win. Jefferson finished with 20 points and eight rebounds versus USA 2011.

Recruiting wise, Jefferson likes Villanova, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Syracuse, Miami, North Carolina and Duke.

AMILE JEFFERSON SHONES ON COURT; TALKS RECRUITING
June 10, 2011 by NBE Blogger
by Alex Schwartz

PHILADELPHIA ? On paper, the top player who participated in last night?s Rasual Butler All-City Classic was class of 2012 star Amile Jefferson. The 6-foot-7 combo forward from Friends Central (PA) did not disappoint, as his 19 points tied for the high in the event?s three games.

He also picked up co-MVP honors for his performance in a 26-point victory in the Junior Game. Prior to his dominant showing, Jefferson spoke with NBE Basketball Report about the status of his recruitment.

Jefferson listed Villanova, Temple, Ohio State, North Carolina State, Stanford, Wake Forest, Syracuse, West Virginia and Miami. He said that he has offers from all of those schools and added that there are other schools involved as well that he just could not recall.

?Not really, only because, you know, I haven?t really taken any visits,? Jefferson said of whether he has any favorites yet. ?I have talked to some of those schools, hope to get some [visits done].?

Jefferson did note of Villanova that he has ?been up there multiple,? but that none of them were actual unofficial visits. The long, skilled rising senior already has an idea of some of the schools in particular he would like to take visits to when he does start to take trips.

?Soon I?m hoping to get a visit down to NC State, hope to get a visit to Maryland,? Jefferson said. ?I talked to a coach at Ohio State [and I am] hoping to get a visit there [and] however many schools I can.?

Recruiting Central: Villanova recruits target Friends' Central forward
POSTED: June 15, 2011
By Keith Pompey
Inquirer Columnist

Amile Jefferson hasn't made up his mind - at least not publicly.

Ask the Friends' Central junior forward where he wants to play college basketball, and he'll almost always give you this response:

"I don't have a top five," said Jefferson, a 6-foot-7, 185-pounder, who is ranked 26th nationally in the Class of 2012 by ESPN.com.

"I'm pretty much wide open."

Amile Jefferson is the No. 26 overall player in the 2012 class.

Amile Jefferson (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Central)
2012, PF, 6-7, 180 pounds
Though his camp team hasn't found the winner's circle, individually, Jefferson's play has been stellar. He has a knack along the baseline for scoring. Jefferson's body is nowhere close to being developed, but his mobility and slinky driver ability allow him to forge entrys into the lane. He's a gutty finisher and competitor. The training staff gave him the option of sitting out because of an injured finger and at his choice, he hasn't so much as missed a single drill.

Jefferson's two hardest pursuers Amile Jefferson doesn't have a final list but two schools entering the summer have made strides and are on him harder than the rest. Villanova and NC State have gotten after it. The Wildcats own commitments from a ton of Philly guys in his class and Jefferson, to put it in Jay Wright terms, would be the crocodile shoes to go with his Armani suit.

"I wish I could go to more than one school," Jefferson said on Friday.

Villanova Working Hard on Amile Jefferson

By Adam Zagoria on June 28, 2011

Like most big men, Amile Jefferson wants to become a wing.

At 6-foot-8, 197 pounds, Jefferson is the No. 12 power forward in the Class of 2012 according to Rivals.

But he?s currently at the Kevin Durant Nike Skills Academy in Chicago in order to learn how to ?come off screens, slicing, getting to that basket, creating a shot off less dribbles, instead of taking five dribbles, taking one.?

After finishing up at Philly Friends Central, he hopes to play the wing in college.

Among the schools on his list right now are Villanova, N.C. State, Temple, Ohio State, UConn, Maryland and Miami.

?Right now I?m really wide open,? he said Tuesday by phone.

Amile Jefferson wants to make the right basketball recruiting decision
The Friends' Central senior has improved areas of his game and big-time colleges are taking notice at big-time events. Don't expect a quick trigger on his commitment, though.

Amile Jefferson is ranked as the No. 4 power forward in the Class of 2012 rankings. He is keeping his recruiting options open as he enters his senior season at Friends' Central in the Philadelphia area.

Out of nowhere, two huge hands snare the ball from midair, and within one motion those hands release it again back through the basket ever so gently. Back on defense, those same hands appear again, swatting a shot that seems destined for twine against a tile wall about 10 feet away.

What is so fascinating about both plays ? on either side of the court ? is that they came from the same player within a 30-second span and were so basic.

Anyone who's ever watched Amile Jefferson is used to seeing it. There's nothing garish about the 6-foot-8 rising senior's game. He scores no sexy points with tomahawk dunks or gaudy displays on defense. He's singularly efficient and likes it that way.

The Gatorade Pennsylvania Boys Basketball Player of the Year for 2010-11, Jefferson returns as the best player in the Philadelphia region this season, entering his senior year at Friends' Central (Wynnewoode, Pa.) a little thicker at around 200 pounds after averaging 19.5 points and 11 rebounds a game last season for the Phoenix. He's bright, plays smart and strong, and above everything else, Jefferson plays solely to win whether he's dumping in 26 points or grabbing 15 rebounds without scoring a point at all.

His play has attracted the attention of Villanova, Temple, Maryland, North Carolina State, Connecticut, Ohio State and Harvard. What's made Jefferson that much more attractive to college scouts is the versatility he's added to his game. The No. 14 player in the recently released MaxPreps Class of 2012 rankings is no longer a back-to-the-basket player who relies on his teammates to feed him.

LEBRON JAMES SKILLS ACADEMY RECRUITING FOCUS: AMILE JEFFERSON
July 8, 2011 by NBE Blogger
By Lauren Kirschman

Philadelphia product Amile Jefferson is receiving interest from Villanova, Maryland, Connecticut, Ohio State, Stanford, Miami, North Carolina State and Pittsburgh, among others (Penn State, West Virginia, Syracuse and on and on) that he continually adds to his list of schools, a process that has kept the 6-foot-7, 190-pound forward up at night.

?I?ve spent hours laying up thinking about it,? Jefferson said. ?Sometimes I wish I could go to more than one school. You want to make sure it?s the right one.?

Jefferson says there are no favorites at this point as he continues to look for the school with the full package that appeals to him.

The Friends Central standout has visited Villanova and Temple because both schools are in the Philadelphia area and he said he hopefully wants to visit Ohio State and Maryland soon.

Amile Jefferson (Philadelphia/Friends Central)
2012, PF, 6-7, 180 pounds
If he's not the best baseline player in the class, he belongs in the conversation. Jefferson is ideally suited to be a presser in an attacking defensive style because his motor and length need to be put to use. Of the elite prospects in the class, Jefferson shows the least entitlement and is one of the most coachable prospects in the ESPNU 100.

Among the heavy hitters we saw in Morgantown were Ohio State's Thad Matta, Villanova's Jay Wright and Georgetown's John Thompson. Each was in town to earn face time with Jefferson.

I was sitting with a college coach who brought up a great point. Amile Jefferson (Philadelphia/Friends Central) is on a neighborhood AAU team. It's not a "name" squad and isn't privy to all the trappings and extras a big-time player or his traveling team would be used to. The coach made a great point.

"I think it says something about him that he would stay with these guys," he said. "That's a loyal guy to do that and it tells you a lot about him."

I couldn't agree more. At his core, Jefferson is an exceptional young man with a moral compass set to do the right thing. He's as gifted a person as he is basketball player. The coach's comment stuck with me and I believe it says a great deal about Amile.

Is local recruit Jefferson next Hakim Warrick?
Tuesday, July 19, 2011
By Ryan Feldman
CSNPhilly.com Contributor

Amile Jefferson's body type and skills are similar to Hakim Warrick, who won a national championship at Syracuse before going to the NBA. (AP)
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. ? Amile Jefferson could be the next Hakim Warrick.

The similarities are striking. Both players are from Philly. Warrick went to high school at Friends Central, which is where Jefferson will be a senior this season. Both are long, athletic power forwards with a solid face-up game. Warrick won a national championship in college, which is one of Jefferson?s top goals. Warrick now plays in the NBA, which is where Jefferson wants to be in the next few years. And Warrick and Jefferson played together Sunday night in the Delco Pro-Am League on the ?Friends Central Alumni? team.

?This was my first time actually playing with him in a game, so it was really fun,? said Jefferson, who admitted he?s heard the Warrick comparisons before. ?To learn with a guy like that with so much talent, just to be around him and play with him, that?s great.?

Jefferson, a 6-foot-9 senior forward, is ranked 26th overall in the class of 2012 by ESPN.com. He?s considering too many high major programs at this point to even count.

?Right now I?m pretty much wide open,? Jefferson said, ?but the schools that have been recruiting me hard as of late are Villanova, NC State, Temple, Ohio State, Maryland, Stanford, Miami and Alabama.?

AMILE JEFFERSON STILL OPEN IN THE RECRUITING PROCESS AS JULY CLOSES

August 1, 2011 by NBE Blogger ? Leave a Comment

By Matt Whitfield

Contrary to what was reported recently Amile Jefferson stated to NBE yesterday at the DC Assault-Big Shots event that he has not narrowed his list down to eight schools and as he is taking the recruiting process very seriously.

?Ah no, not really,? responded Jefferson when asked if he?d narrowed his list down to eight schools. ?I?m still pretty wide open with the recruiting process. We?re hoping to get some visits in and try and narrow this list down.?

Jefferson did mention that he?s looking to take some visits to some East Coast schools in the coming months.

?We?re hoping to get a visit to NC State and while we?re down there maybe visit Wake Forest. Get up to Maryland. Hopefully get up to Pitt. And right now that?s pretty much it. Maybe get a visit in to Ohio State as well,? said Jefferson.

Jefferson dominates - again

Amile Jefferson has shown, once again, why he's regarded as one of the nation's premier basketball prospects.

The Friends' Central senior had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead USA 2012 Blue to Monday's 114-107 victory over USA 2013 Red in the final of the Adidas Nations tournament in Los Angeles.

The 6-8 combo forward was named the game's MVP.

Jefferson averaged 19.4 points and seven rebounds in five games at the tourney.

In June, he won the scoring title (20.8 points per game) at the National Basketball Players Association Top 100 camp at Virginia. The West Philly resident also received the camp's scholar-athlete award.

Jefferson is the nation's third-ranked prospect in the Class of 2012, according to the Bob Gibbons All-Star Scouting Service.

He has scholarship offers from Villanova, Temple, La Salle, Syracuse, Penn State, Stanford, North Carolina State, Ohio State, West Virginiam and Wake Forest, among others.
