'12 PA RB Rushel Shell (Pitt Signee; Transfer to West Virginia)

With our depth, the fact that the QB and pivot will see the ball in rushing instances would seem to make us an unfavorable attraction for shell. We have so much RB talent that we're fine without him. He'd be better off at UK, or a MAC school where he could be the primary ball carrier.

Remember there is an old adage that football coaches have been saying for decades: "you can never have too many running backs".

I've heard that old adage repeated repeatedly as "you can never have too many <insert position here>". The problem is, in an age where there are scholarship restrictions, you can. This was stated by one of the mods, probably Wade, several years ago. In any case, the saying is, you need a pair and a spare for RB's.

And we currently have a pair and another pair. And that's with me assuming eazy e gets redshirted. Though I would like to think about she'll joining osu, we have a crazy amount of depth there and 3 more players that play the pivot could be added there as well. I wish shell the best but I just don't see a reason for him to choose osu. And it honestly doesnt matter one bit to us

UPDATE: A transfer decision could come former Pitt running back Rushel Shell by July 22nd. Shell will make his first visit on that day since deciding UCLA wasn't for him.

"Can't wait to take this official visit down WVU the 22nd," Shell tweeted.

Ohio State and Kentucky were originally named as part of Shell's top three options, but Ohio State decided not to pursue the runningback. The same has been confirmed at Kentucky.

"Kentucky will not pursue former Pitt running back Rushel Shell. (Josh) Clemons' injury doesn't change that," Justin Rowland of CatsIllustrated tweeted.

Kentucky will instead rely on its incoming recruits, those which signed with the team in February and those currently committed to the program.

With Kentucky and Ohio State out of the picture, West Virginia is the only option for Shell. Shell would sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and then have an opportunity to replace another transfer, Charles Sims, in next year's lineup.
