Could we take both Tra'von and Malik Zaire? Or are we only taking 1 qb?

IMO, the staff will look for two QB's out of the 2013 class. By the time these kids hit campus, you'd have the following.....

2013: Braxton Miller (Junior), Kenny Guiton (RS Senior), Cardale Jones (Sophomore), Justin Siems (RS Senior)

2014: Braxton Miller (Senior), Cardale Jones (Junior)

....which doesn't factor in the possibility of transfers & Braxton leaving early.

Excellent, I really wasn't hoping we have to choose between the two. Take 'em both I say!

Top area football players receiving plenty of interest from college recruiters
By Michael Beaven
Beacon Journal sports writer
Published: February 7, 2012

The letters keep coming in the mail and Kent Roosevelt junior quarterback Tra Chapman keeps reading them.

Chapman is one of the most highly touted quarterbacks in Ohio in the class of 2013.

National signing day for football has come and gone for 2012. Now, it?s onto 2013.

Chapman and Hudson junior Ben Gedeon, a running back and linebacker, are two of the premier catches in 2013, according to several recruiting services.

Chapman, who has scholarship offers from Kent State and Northwestern, said the attention is fun ? and distracting.

?It is a combination of the two,? Chapman said. ?So far, it is a blessing to be in this position. Sometimes it gets a little stressful when you have three coaches coming in and we run into each other and I might have a test to take that period or next period in school. I get constant letters, like six a day. It?s a lot of fun to get the attention and to see that the coaches want you to play for them and their schools.?

Roosevelt coach John Nemec said Chapman, 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, is attractive to colleges because of his athleticism and ability to pass and run the ball efficiently.

Chapman said he is also receiving interest from Ohio State, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana, Oregon, Akron and Bowling Green.

I really like Zaire and Swoopes and think they would look great in S&G, but Tra'Von is my favorite QB that we're in on.

IMHO, Tra'Von has a fantastic combination of accuracy and power when throwing the ball. He can zip it through traffic or on short routes with a tight spiral like a bullet or he can can put it over the top with great touch on a mid-to-long range throw. It doesn't look like he has quite the crazy jukes and elite speed that Swoopes and Zaire show off, but he's plenty fast, has great shake (see 2:42 in the film above), and has the heart and slipperiness to break through tackles and get that first down or touchdown. With the latter, you know he has the love and respect of his teammates in the huddle, and that's what you want in a QB. If he has the leadership to make things happen on the field, he could be something really special.

Would LOVE to see Tra'Von get that Buckeye offer. Take Tra'Von and Malik (with Robert Foster) and call it a QB class.

Surprised this kid isn't being talked about more.

I like Malik Zaire a lot, but Chapman is a more impressive quarterback to me. Better size, better arm, quicker release and much more experienced in the passing game. Doesn't run it quite as well, but can still make things happen with his feet.

I realize Meyer is looking for 1 national kid to go along with 1 of the Ohio kids but, frankly, unless he can pull a miracle and get Swoopes out of Texas, we don't need to leave the state.

It would be nice if we could get an out of state stud.......but I would be quite happy if we got Malik Zaire and Tra'Von Chapman this year, and then in 2014 we brought in a 5-star national stud. That would put Zaire, Chapman, Jones, and TBD-2014-QBrecruit in competition to be Braxton's heir.

Personally, I'd be really pleased if we didn't leave the state this year for quarterback. With Zaire, Chapman, Robak, and a Trubisky (who I really like) all being in state. If we pull an out of state prospect, I think it would be Aaron Bailey, who I see as a talent similar to those guys, but I'm obviously no expert in evaluating quarterbacks.

Agreed! We don't need to leave Ohio this year to look for a QB. Zaire and chapman and move on to other positions, like say OL that can keep them upright and big play WRs

May not have to out of state for a stud in 2014 with DeShone Kizer out of Toledo Central Catholic next year!http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/football-recruiting/627577-14-oh-qb-deshone-kizer.html
