Shelton Gibson (Declaring for 2017 NFL Draft)

He can jump into wvu anf ut's starting lineup immediately with both teams losing their star wrs. Shelton probably also saw that as well when choosing wvu (to of course go with grades), and contemplating tennessee. Sucks to see him elsewhere but best of luck and it should be fun watching him play in an offense that can benefit his speed as well

247 - Most Important: Big 12

1/21

WEST VIRGINIA

Shelton Gibson, WR, (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) ? Gibson is technically already a West Virginia commit but Ohio State and Tennessee are making a strong push for the No. 182 prospect in the country. Six of the Mountaineers? top seven receivers are gone from last year so keeping Gibson is huge.
Makes it sound like we're still working on him. Probably uninformed reporting, but I thought I'd post it just in case. Devin Lauderdale also mentioned in connection with Texas Tech...

Free Scout - Shelton Gibson: On The Record

"I still talk to coaches from all four schools, and none of them have dropped me, including Ohio State," Gibson stressed. "I talked with them (Ohio State) last week and they said they do not know where the story is coming from that they dropped me, because they told me they didn't at all."

"The bottom line for me is that I love all four schools, and know I could be happy at all of them, but West Virginia is the right place for me," he noted. "For the Ohio State fans, there was never anything bad about their school at all. I just felt real comfortable with West Virginia. I'm an Ohio boy, and I will always be a Buckeye and root for Ohio State. I wish they could support me, like I will support their team, and maybe that can happen in time. I apologize for anything I've said on Twitter, and I forgive everyone for the things they said about me."

Glad The Bank did this interview and it's free...people need to read it and maybe they will understand why we don't condone contacting recruits via social media or why we don't allow posts citing players' Twitter or Facebook accounts.

I agree, Elliot was getting hammered as well, it's really pathetic people will attack a 18 year old kid

Truely pathetic to get hammerd by OSU fans.

Classy response by Shelton.

It's still about grades though. Clark is blazing fast too, showing just as much if not more potential and has a 3.9 GPA. That's no disrespect to Shelton it's just the truth.

I wish Shelton the best of luck. Seeing how he has handled this has made me a fan and I will be rooting for him to do well unless he is playing us.

My opinion and modus operandi: with the exception of professional members of the sports media, adults shouldn't follow, converse with, pay attention to, or interact with recruits on social media sites. Period. Very little good ever comes of it.

I'm glad to see Shelton take the high road and wish him the best of luck regardless of where he plays or what he does with his life.

While pathetic, what do these kids expect to happen when they allow complete strangers to access them through the social media? You start responding to them and you just make matters worse. I don't know that high school parents and coaches fully grasp these social networks and the exposure it creates.

I think kids expect to be able interact with their friends and other teenagers through social media and for adults to act like adults.
