I don't know if it was just me, but he didn't look like the blazer I thought he was. He didn't really outrun people. Now, he did look smooth, but just not as fast as I thought he was.

Ive seen him in person, he has jets, One of the top 100m runners in the state, seen him run a 10.7 at LEL championships last yr,

He'd be a nice weapon to have, but I don't think he's in the Diggs, Marshall, or Foster class of playmaker. Basically I don't think when the gameplan is being drawn up, he's gonna be at the top of the list to get 10-15 touches per game.

He has yet to play his senior season and hasn't even got into a college s&c program yet. You can't write the kid off just yet. He can always get better with reps, and it helps that he already has speed. If he can just catch the ball consistently that would be an upgrade for us.

How was I writing him off? Just said he currently doesn't project like a Diggs, Marshall, or Foster.

Gibson can fly but he has a lot of wasted motion. Once Marioti get ahold of him, he will get much faster.

He might not have the lateral shakes of Diggs or Jalin, but he'll be a good vertical target that stretches the field longitudinally. Jalin and Braxton will do the same horizontally and at the line of scrimmage. Good fit for Coach Herman and Coach Meyer's spread scheme. Thunder and lightning, fish and chips, cookies and cream (sorry, I'm hungry :tongue2:)

I've warmed up to Shelton a lot. I think he could be a fantastic slot receiver for us. He's pretty darn deadly on post routes, out/dig routes, and slants, and he's not afraid to go over the middle. And agree with jdadms... Shelton could be a weapon on screens as well. He may be in the 5'11" to 6'1" range, but he plays like he's 6'2" or 6'3".

He's not a Diggs or another big name national guy, but I wouldn't sleep on Shelton. He can play.

Watch List WR Gibson sets date
March, 9, 2012
By Jared Shanker

Shelton Gibson is essentially down to a final two, and the dynamic Cleveland Heights (Ohio) High School receiver has a decision date in mind.

Auburn and Ohio State are ?neck and neck? for Gibson?s services, he said, and a decision will come June 20.

?It was going to be the end of summer closer to the football season but I?ll do it at the beginning of the summer right after [track and field] states,? Gibson said. ?I think I will do it on my mom?s birthday, June 20.?
