'13 PA OT Dorian Johnson (Pitt Verbal)

If we don't land Dorian, it won't be distance (which I have seen thrown around on a lot of boards). PSU is just as far from his home town as OSU and he commited to them . If we don't land him, it is because he prefers Pitt or whomever.

Can tOSU with UFM at the controls really not get a recruit that will be the most important recruit left on our board, and with a favorable depth chart story, to Pitt?

Is that what we are talking about?

Some seem to think the Spread Offense doesn't really appeal to a lot of top level OT's, not sure if that is the case here or not

I agree. The fact that he committed to Pitt's uberrival would lead me to believe that he doesn't favor Pitt over anyone.

And I don't see how in the wide world of sports any athlete with an offer from Pitt and tOSU could turn down tOSU.

Pitt is just awful and will be awful for the foreseeable future.

Eh, I tend not to put much weight into college rivalries in the mind of a high schooler. This kind of thing seems to go on all the time, and when you're trying to decide where you'll spend the next four years of your life (which is an incredibly long amount of time, relative to a 17 year old), things like a rivalry on the football field shouldn't be a factor. Heck, look at Kalis last year.

Wow, that's a pretty big homer statement! Especially since we've had a few high profile kids commit to lesser known schools recently. like Darius Jennings to uva and stefon digs to Maryland. Even a few kids from glenville went to indiana and Illinois. kids commit for.different reasons than fans want to admit

I believe Pitt and Ped State last met on the field in the 2000 season. Doubt a 2013 recruit would still see that as a rivalry, given that he was in kindergarten the last time they played.

Don't be shocked if OSU loses this battle to this "home town" school that some one spoke of above. Not trying to go on the attack, just pointing out that many kids like being close to home. If he was smart and thought of the exposure at OSU and what that can offer then he may chose OSU. I'm just not sold he will just yet. After a visit with Urban and staff...then I'll be more confident about DJ in S&G.:osu:
Edited due to an oversensitve individual who need to ask first before going on the offensive...we're all Buckeye fans here...at least for the most part, and we don't need to attack on another over words on a computer screen...there's enough of that on other sites and doesn't need to be exhibited here.
